Radio began as a means of military communication but evolved to include comedy, drama, news, and music. In the 1950s, radio included music, talk, news, and sports. Satellite radio later launched, gaining subscribers and moving listeners from AM/FM radio. One station, KISW in Seattle, was able to retain its listeners after Howard Stern moved his popular morning radio show to satellite radio in 2006 through the use of digital communication tools like their website, blogs, vlogs, podcasts and chat to engage fans.
