RACISM IN THE MUSLIM COUNTRY.
oThe muslim community is a universal community that consist of diversity, multi-
racial people, and various colour. We are taught to accept every muslim even
non-muslim despite their colour, nationality or ethnicity.
oHowever somehow, black muslim experience racism from our own brothers and
sisters in Islam.
oMeanwhile, the female black muslims face multiple bigots from different group of
people. They face racism from muslims, non-muslims, they get mistreated and
raped in the Middle-East by their Arab bosses.
oIt also happened in United States of America, between 15,000 until 18,000
homicides per year and 50% are black-on-black crime, literally, there are twice as
many whites that have been shot by police, but nobody ever shows those videos.
ISLAMOPHOBIA
 Islamophobia is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as “ Intense dislike
or fear of Islam, especially as a political force, hostility or prejudice towards
Islam.
 In 1997 the Runnymede Comission defined Islamophobia as “An outlook or
world-view involving an unfounded dread and dislike of Muslims, which
results in practices in exclusion and discrimination.
 Frames:
1. Monolithic and static
2. Separate and ‘other’
3. Inferior to the west
4. Violent, aggressive, supportive of terrorism
The researchers found that Muslims perceive significant bias against them. Seventy-
five percent of respondents said there’s “a lot” of discrimination against Muslims in
the U.S. Sixty percent of Muslims—and 68 percent of Muslim women—said media
coverage of Muslims is unfair. And when respondents were asked about the most
important problems facing U.S. Muslims today, the most popular answers included
“discrimination, racism, [and] prejudice,” “Muslims [being] viewed as terrorists,” and
“Trump’s attitudes [and] policies toward Muslims.” In general, American Muslims are
not fans of the president. Three-quarters of the respondents said Trump is
“unfriendly” toward Muslims in the U.S., and 65 percent disapprove of what he’s
doing in office—slightly less than the percentage of Muslims who disapproved of
George W. Bush on a 2007 version of this survey- The Atlantic
•Islamophobia is today an industry which
promotes hatred and fear of Muslims based
on the previous frames about Islam and
Muslims.
•The Southern Poverty Law Centre reports
that as of 2016, there were 101
organizations devoted to disseminating
biased information or misinformation about
Islam and Muslims.
•These includes organizations such as:
Society of Americans for National
Existence (SANE) founded by David
Yerushalmi who is behind the anti-sharia
campaigns.
WHY?
oIgnorance about Islam and Muslims
- According to a study by the Public Religion Research Institute :
62% of Americans have seldom or never conversed with a muslim
57% say they know little and 26% say they know nothing about Islam
oMinimal information about Muslim or Islam taught historically
- since education about Islam and Muslim began in public schools only on 1990s,
most adults have had little or no formal education abouth the faith or its adherents
oPeople generally pass on their prejudice to peers and children
- without an intervention, bigotry is perpetuated from generation to generation
HOW TO OVERCOME
RACISM?
By : Aishah Binti Taib
HOW TO OVERCOME
RACISM1. In Al-quran, Allah has told us the main reason why He created us differently is to know
each others.

ٌ‫ر‬‫ي‬ِ‫ب‬َ‫خ‬ ٌ‫م‬‫ي‬ِ‫ل‬َ‫ع‬ َ َّ‫اَّلل‬
O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and
tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is
the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.
- The prejudices due to race, nationality, or other group affiliation is always the caused of
disruption in the world.
- Islam with its universal concept of brotherhood rejects all artificial and man-made of
distinction.
2.We have to focus more on what we have in common, not on what separate us.
• Any type of racial pride can result in polarizing our society and taking us one step
backward toward segregation.
• We must be open-minded and accept the good things that beneficial to us but we
must follow the Syari’ah rules.
Abu Musa (May Allah bepleased with him) reported:
Messenger of Allah ( ‫ﷺ‬) said, "The relationship of the believer with another believer is like
(the bricks of) a building, each strengthens the other." He ( ‫ﷺ‬) illustrated this by
interlacing the fingers of both his hands.
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
3. When someone see racism in the actions and attitudes of other people – stand up and speak.
• When you have conversation with other of a difference race about racial issues, be a student
not a teacher, you need to listen with humility and intentionally and ask good question.
• Be friend with them , always keep in touch.
4. We must develop the tolerance and sympathy toward one another.
• Help people in needs regardless their background, religion, races or etc.
• This is universal responsibility, a deep concern for all irrespectived creed, colour, sex or
nationality.
THANK YOU 
