How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
• Throughout my production process, I have been able to create a brand identity
along side a theme so its noticeable by our target audience. I have done this by
making sure I have included certain things that I’ve noticed for when people release
their music videos.
• By creating a theme for our music video it allows people to recognise the
connections between the video and magazine advert.This was created when we
were in the making of the video when we were collecting film to collaborate
together to create our video.Things like what the actor and actress was wearing in
the video and what the actress was wearing in the advert have to have some sort of
connection otherwise people wont see that they are presenting each other.They
are both helping each other sell each other and to increase the acknowledgement
of each other.
• The theme was decided after the final product was finished as we had to make sure
the theme was right for what we produced.We had to make sure it all intertwined
with each other and make each product had a obvious connection to one another.
Theme Creating
The Advert
• The advert I made I thought would be best to keep it the same to our video of
course. But I wanted the female protagonist to wear the same clothing as she did
in part of the music video so people are aware they have a connection. I feel like
there should be that reference to the video and the advert as if they don’t look
similar how are people going to know that they are for each other. Issey, the main
character, is the only person on the cover of the advert as I feel like she is the more
important one out of both of the couple as she is the one whose perspective is
more on show then the others. She is the one that made the bad decision to blame
her partner of cheating, therefore she’s the one who created the mess the song is
referring to.
• If you keep that consistency going, your audience will be able to tell that each
product you have produced are associated together.
Creating brand identity
• When in the music industry, having an identity is what really helps you spread your
music around.There are many more artists then just you who are competing to
win the audience over just as just as you are, therefore by creating a brand identity
you are making yourself stand out more from them. By doing this you are showing
you’re target audience that you have something unique about yourself which they
are attracted to.
• So if you were to show someone a small part of your advert, they would be able to
recognise them within a few seconds. If they aren’t able to do so then you have
not created a brand identity.
• So for my advert and music video, I would say the thing that makes it stand out
would be what the female protagonist is wearing alongside the hair style she has.
This made her have a more unique and different look then a lot of our target
audiences but we know from our research that our target audience find it
appealing and each catching.
Sales & Advert
• If you didn’t have the advert then the music video might not have a good time setting off.
They are all down to selling the music video and making people aware that this music
video is out there for people to enjoy and watch. It helps promotes the music video and
lets people know where they are able to find it and how to access the music video.The
main single “HowTo Save a Life” is the title of the album seeing as the song is the most
important one of them all. So by having the main song on the cover intrigues people to
see what other songs they might have in stall for them.
• The reason why we included the star ratings where to make people understand that this is
a good song and its worth a listen.The star ratings were good so this made the audience
feel that if these big companies are watching and having a listen and thinking how good it
is maybe they sound give it a try. It will attract a larger audience and make them explore
the band as a whole and listen to the bands other music they have produced.
• We are showing our target audience what to expect in our music video by producing a
advert. If we did not make one then we would be very on edge as no one would know
anything about the song before we released it.
