1. “Perceived Organizational Climate and
Organizational Citizenship Behavior of
Proficient Teachers in Carsadang Bago
Elementary School Imus City”
2. Introduction
Organizations operate within the context of society.
Various societal factors influence the effectiveness of
organizations, and management must adapt to these
influences (Konopaske et al, 2016).This is one of the
reason the concepts of organizational climate and
organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) has been
extensively studied, with researchers seeking to
understand the relationship of these variables on various
implications to an organization such as organizational
effectiveness and employee behavior.
3. Introduction
On the other hand, organizational citizenship behavior
(OCB) is a concept that has gained significant attention in
recent years, as it represents a form of employee
behavior that goes beyond the minimum job
requirements and contributes to the overall functioning
and success of an organization as a whole, rather than
solely benefiting the individual employee (Lilly, 2023).
Organizational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB) has been
explored and researched by scholars for more than 25
years and it continues to be an area of interest for
scholars.
4. Conceptual Framework
The figure portrays the abstraction of the primary variables of
the study and its relationship that the study attempts to
address. The study posited that the degree of Organizational
Citizenship Behaviors could be linked to the perceived
Organizational Climate. This means to say that as an
employee elaborating a degree of organizational citizenship
behavior, could be a predictor of the perceived organizational
climate. Moreover, organizational climate could also be a
predictor of organizational citizenship behavior.
5. Methodology
This study used a descriptive correlational approach of
research. Descriptive correlational design describes the
variables and the relationships that occur naturally between
and among them. Sousa et al (2007). Descriptive research is
defined as a study describing a given state of affairs as fully
and carefully as possible.
The most common descriptive methodology is the survey as
when the researchers summarize the characteristics such as
abilities, preferences and behaviors of individuals or groups or
physical environment (Fraenkel & Wallen, 2003). Whereas,
correlational research also termed as associational research
investigates relationships. It is more than simply describing
situations or events but rather knowing differences in variables
relating to other variables. By investigating possible
relationships, the researchers thus understand phenomena
more completely (Fraenkel & Wallen, 2003).

6. Participants
The participants of the study comprised a total of
55 teachers of Carsadang Bago elementary school
in Imus City Cavite for the period covering AY 2023-
2024. The school was selected based on its
category as an established elementary school in
barangay Carsadang Bago and in Imus City.
Moreover having the status of operation as actively
operating at the time of the study.
7. Data Gathering Procedure
The study used a survey questionnaire in determining the perceived
Organizational Climate and degree of organizational citizenship
behavior of the participants. This survey questionnaire had two
component parts. Part I requests information about the perceived
organizational climate profile.
Perceived Organizational Climate of regular employees was
measured using the Organizational Climate Questionnaire by Rensis
Likert (1967) which is a 5-point, 15-item questionnaire that aims to
assess the employees’ perceived organizational climate in current work
setting. Part II was intended to determine the organizational citizenship
behavior based on Organ’s (1988) five dimensional taxonomy, namely:
altruism, conscientiousness, sportsmanship, courtesy, and civic virtue
and were measured using the 24-item scale developed by Podsakoff et
al(1990).
