What Steps do I Take to Recruit
High School Volunteers?
Create an account in X2Vol. ( A one time task of ten
minutes.)
Assign a staff person to supervise the High School
Volunteer.
Develop a page describing the volunteer role and
expectations.
Post your volunteer opportunity online using X2Vol –
reaching as many New Haven Public High Schools that
you request to reach.
If (a) student(s) accept(s), you can interview or have
them begin and complete the assigned task.
Verify that the students completed the hours on-line
using X2Vol.

What if….
I’m a small non-profit and don’t have time to
register in X2Vol or supervise High School
Volunteers?
With a few minutes of planning, the Volunteers
can provide you with hours of much needed
support – FOR FREE.
Registering in X2Vol takes ten minutes or less.
We are an informal small neighborhood
community group and do not have a tax ID or
EIN number, can we register in X2Vol?
A non-profit with a tax ID or EIN number may
“sponsor” you through their X2Vol account, and
post your volunteer opportunity on your behalf.
We encourage all non-profits participating to
have liability insurance as a standard best
practice.
6. + What if….
We are part of the Neighborhood Management Team or
the Parent Teacher Organization ( PTO), can we post
volunteer opportunities for high school students?
Yes, by having a non-profit with a Tax ID or EIN number to
register with X2Vol and post on your behalf.
The City of New Haven- Police Departments and other
Departments are considered entities that are eligible to
register in X2Vol and post volunteer opportunities.
Schools can sponsor volunteer opportunities by contacting
your school’s counselor.
We are a faith-based entity, do we qualify?
Yes, if you have a Tax ID or EIN number to register with
X2Vol.
Providing hours related to worship services does not qualify
as a community service opportunity such as participating in
the choir, ushering, tithe and offerings, etc.
Accepted “non-worship” related activities include community
clean-up, tutoring, food bank support, office filing, etc.
