Discuss the contents, processes, and
outcomes in Art
Identify difficulties and concerns related to
the teaching of Arts; and
Recommend ways of addressing
difficulties and concerns in teaching Art
Education.
Divide the class into groups.
Identify the common characteristics of pictures.
Group pictures with similar characteristics together.
Each group will have to answer the following questions:
•What are the subjects of the art form?
•What are the materials used in the art forms?
•What could be the reason why the artist made such an
art?
Renaissance Period/Artist
• a period of economic progress
• the art was characterized by accurate anatomy,
scientific perspective and deeper landscape.
• painters depicted real life figures and their
sculptures were naturalistic portraits and natural being.
• architecture was characterized by its symmetry
and balance.
Baroque Art/Artist
• comes from the word ‘barocco” which means “irregularly
shaped pearl or stone.”
• was a period of artistic styles in exaggerated motion,
drama, tension and grandeur.
• painting illustrated key elements of Catholic dogma, either
directly in Biblical works or indirectly in imaginary or symbolic
work.
• architecture was designed to create a spectacle of illusion.
Straight lines were replaced with flowing curves.

Art forms in the Philippines are diverse.
Western influences can be seen in Philippine
art forms such as painting, dancing etc.
In the 16th century, the baroque style was
brought by the Spanish and Portuguese to the
Philippines where it became the prominent
style of building large and small churches
