1. Q1) In what ways does your media
product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real media
products?
2. • We went by strict guidelines whilst editing our
Thriller opening. This meant that we had to
follow the title sequence that is usually used
in everyday media products. This was an
essential as it made our thriller a lot more
professional.
3. An essential part of our research was to look at the
opening sequence to a few Thriller films. Titles
are expected to stay shown on the screen for a
total of 3 seconds each time, we followed this
guideline when adding titles to our footage,
ensuring that they each fade our after a specific
amount of time. This fade out effect suited out
opening as it went well with the slow, calm music
that we chose to use, as well complimenting as
our shots, which were mainly jump cuts.

5. • It is important to include all of these titles in a
opening sequence to a media production. This
is because its the only way, and most likely
way, to inform the audience a little about
those behind the making of the film, as well as
providing information on the production
company.
6. Conventions of Film Openings
• The purpose of a film opening is to show
action, in order to engage the viewers
instantly. The title sequence will state the
genre if the film, as well as introducing either
the protagonist of antagonist. Most film
openings are about 2 minutes long, however,
major blockbusters may be up to 5 minutes
long. Our film is far from a major blockbuster,
therefore, our Thriller opening was a total of 2
minutes long.
