Roberto Langstroth has lived in several different countries throughout his life, including Bolivia, the United States, and Mexico. He attended nine different schools across these countries, making it difficult to form lasting friendships. However, soccer was the one constant in his life that allowed him to bond with other children and interact with them even when he did not speak the local language. His senior year of high school in Virginia was particularly memorable, as his soccer team had its first winning season and won several championships without losing a single home game. Soccer has provided Roberto with stability and community throughout his many moves in life.

word of Spanish, but soccer
helped me make new friends
even though I could not
communicate with them.
