PULSE PARK

THE PROJECT PROGRAM:

- How to integrate Västra Hamn to the rest of the city

- change the boarders

- Make an interactive Park

- Maximize flexibility in the area
Existing area:

Vestra Hamn has a
starting point in an
already settled and
planned situation.
The authority has, along
with many engineers and
architects made plans
for many years ahead.
                                   THE FLAGGHOUSING
what has not been
included in the plans so
far, is the border cross- THE TURNING TORSO
ing between the center-
core and this township.
                                                             THE DOCK
In this zone there is “a no
man’s land”, where the BO01
remains of the industry,
re-grown natural and
old traintracks are to be
found.
The border between the
city and this new site that
is filled with buildings,
houses, leisure areas and
a high standard of living, THE UNIVERSITYISLAND
in general is more clear-
ly made in that this limit is
present and that one in-
terprets the differences THE BORDER BETWEEN THE TWO TOWNSHIPS
between zones in an even
greater extent.

principle:

A park/space/idea where
water and other types of
connections are crossing
vertically to unit both sides
of the different townships.
The path/connection from
the central station and
towards the sea has an
amorphos form, so that the
walk or where you are going
will not be revealed, and at
the same time will interfere
with the buildings that will
have different functions.
The buildings, existing or
transformed will be com-
mon services that will pre-
vent a monoculture, like
cultural center, library
and theatre with a shared
culture from all the inhab-
itants of malmø.
Tools:

Polymerization is the process of ex-
change between different molecules
(partners such as villages, cities, re-
gions) for a collaborative develop-
ment towards new constellations.
I have borrowed the concept from
the book archilab europe strate-
gic architecture from the german
architect/urabnist anna batschun.
Though she talks about the urban
polimerization in her book i want to
interpret the tool to use it and un-
derstand the situation better based
on a smaller scale.
urban polymerization creates spa-
tial networks. These can have bi-po-
lar, linear, rhizome and archipelago-
like forms.
the term polymer is derived from the
greek words “poly”= many and “mer” =
particle. In polymerization there are
many molecules of a material bond
to form a new union.
I see all the remains from the indus-
try in the borderline as something
that can get a new use and form the
site in a different way. The bond is
allready existing, Everyone is de-
pending on eachother, and by adding
different fuctions there will become
a new unit.
