Today we gave a talk at Future Internet Assembly 2014. Its aim was to show how OpenNebula is driving innovation in cloud computing, impacting the adoption of private cloud, and enabling business in the cloud.
First, most organizations adopt cloud to optimize their IT investment, to improve existing services or to support new business and service models. In this scenario, OpenNebula lowers the barriers for new organizations to build their private cloud.
Second, many organizations like the fact that open source allows great customization to meet individual requirements. They can build a differentiated cloud service to meet customers needs or to offer new cloud provision models for a specific market segment or geography.
Third, open-source also encourages and supports innovation in the development of new cloud products. We have seen many examples of how its use lowers the barriers for new ICT players to create their own cloud offerings.

- 2. • Jorn Kellerman at Deutsche telekom talks about how their company uses OpenStack to its full potential. • He believes OpenStack is one technology that is both open(source) and driving innovation. • Many use cases for the use of this software, how small enterprises and banks use private cloud etc. • They have 150 million customers.
- 3. • Building it as a part of their core network, and have successfully deployed installations in production. • Deutsche Telekom was one of the first large european companies publicly supporting the OpenStack project. • The visible engagement started with the launch of the TelekomCloud BusinessMarketplace in 2012. • Today a number of engineers from Deutsche Telekom enhance OpenStack by contributing to projects around networking, testing and storage.
- 4. • Main goal is not contribution but to push for standardization. • For different products and services. • To provide carrier grade quality – their systems will never fail. • Eg: No interruption during a phone call converstion.
