3. PRIVATE SCHOOLS
A school supported by a private organization or
private individuals rather than by the government.
A school founded, conducted and maintain by a
private group rather than by the government, usually
charging tuition and often following a particular
philosophy, viewpoint etc.
A school under the financial and managerial control
of a private body or charitable trust, accepting mostly
fee – paying pupils.
A school that does not get money from the
government and that is run by a group of private
individuals.

Class size in one of the major differences between
public and private schools. The class size in urban
public schools can be as large as 25-30
pupils/students (or more) while must private schools
keep their class sizes closer to an average of 15 or 16
students.

Public school teachers need to be certified, private
school teachers don’t necessarily need to be certified
but are often experts in their fields, and many have
master’s or even doctoral degrees. It is very difficult to
remove public school teachers, private school teachers
generally have contracts that are renewable each year.

preparing their graduates to succeed in college.

students who are highly motivated. Many private
school students want to learn, and your children will
be surrounded by student who regard academic
achievement as desirable.

acceptance rates, and earn higher
degrees.

and textbooks are often
outdated and worn.

days off, which may challenge
busy parents.
PRIVATE SCHOOL
1. The cost of attending a private
school is higher than attending a
public one.
2. Since courses are specialized,
student may have a smaller range
of subjects they can pursue.
3. Students usually have to pass an
entry exam to be admitted.
4. Private schools are also less
regulated by the state, which means
that teachers aren’t required to hold
teaching degrees and special
education programs may be
lacking.
