Learn Potential scuba diving injuries and PrecautionsSeahawks Scuba
Scuba diving is an adventurous watersport but it involves certain scuba diving risks and injuries due to improper training, experience and knowledge. Decompression sickness, Air embolism, Pulmonary barotrauma, seasickness, and dehydration are some risks that occur due to unprofessional scuba diving. Visit our official page for more information.
Following the success of Cold Water Boot Camp, a sequel was created. Titled Beyond Boot Camp: The 3 “R’s” Rescue, Recover and Rewarm, this production is designed to provide educators with tools to better inform themselves and their students about the risks of cold water immersion. In addition, first responders will learn how to be more successful in recovering and re-warming any persons suffering from cold water immersion or hypothermia. This presentation will highlight a sampling of the DVD and web materials.
What are the pre-requisite medical conditions for scuba diving?Seahawks Scuba
A person must be of legal age and physically or mentally fit enough for scuba diving. People suffering from diabetes, ear infection, asthma, sugar, breathing problems, blood pressure, and so on are not eligible for underwater diving in any case. Visit our official webpage for more information.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
2. Aquatics –refers in
recreational activity
that involve bodies of
water.

and healthy aquatic environment for all users.
We are committed to the importance of water
safety and training for our lifeguards, swim
instructors, and our community. We believe
that aquatic pursuits are a lifetime skill and a
healthy recreational activity.
What is Aquatics?
4. Diving
Diving is also among the best recreational
activities in the Philippines. Plunge into the
deep waters and be amazed with the variety of
marine mammals, fish, corals and other
underwater plants.
5.
6. SWIMMING
Through swimming it works your
whole body, improving
cardiovascular conditioning, muscle
strength, endurance, posture, and
flexibility all at the same time.
7.
8. SURFING
IS A SURFACE WATER SPORT IN WHICH THE WAVE
RIDER, REFERRED TO AS A SURFER, RIDES ON THE
FORWARD OR DEEP FACE OF A MOVING WAVE,
WHICH IS USUALLY CARRYING THE SURFER
TOWARDS THE SHORE.
12. Whole body conditioning: Swimming tones your upper
and lower body because you’re using almost all of your
major muscle groups. The best strokes for all-over body
toning are the freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke.
13. Low risk of injury: There is a low risk for swimming
injuries because there’s no stress safe daily workout
routine, swimming is ideal because you can rigorously
work out with a reduced chance of swimming injuries.
Many athletes supplement their training with swimming.
14. Low-impact exercise: So many people can
reap the benefits of swimming. Pregnant
women benefit from swimming because it
helps strengthen the shoulder and
abdominal muscles, which can be strained
when carrying a baby.
15. Stress Relief
Additionally, aquatic therapy can benefit you
psychologically. There are meditative and healing
properties of water which can promote stress relief and
enhance your overall attitude.
Even a quick swim before work can provide you with
clarity to start your day. Getting in the water is simply a
fun activity, which is why it’s recommended to boost
mood.
18. Hypothermia is a physical condition
that occurs when the body's core
temperature falls below a normal 98.6°
F (37° C) to 95° F (35° C) or cooler.
19. Hypothermia occurs when the
body's temperature drops below
35C (95F). In both cases the
function and metabolism of the
various body organs is altered.
20. Aquatic hypothermia occurs mainly
during prolonged open
swimming, wind
water
surfing,
waterskiing, kayaking or boating
when sudden and persistent
temperature drops occur, or with
accidental falls in the water.
22. •Wearing a personal flotation device (PFD)
•Adopting a survival position
•Keeping clothing on
•Getting as much of body out of the water
as possible
•Remaining still and in place UNLESS a floating
object another person, or the shore is nearby
•Keeping a positive mental outlook
(a will to survive really does matter)
23. To prevent hypothermia:
In the cold, wear loose fitting light-weight layers of clothing, a water-
repellant outer layer, a hat, gloves, socks and insulated, water-repellant
boots.
Stay dry and remove wet clothing as soon as possible.
Don't overexert yourself to the point you are heavily sweating; wet clothing
and cold weather can make your body temperature quickly drop.
Limit your exposure to cold weather or cold water.
If you fall in the water, do not remove clothing until you are out and can get
warm.
Do not drink alcohol when outdoors in the cold or on the water.
If you do get stuck in cold weather or in cold weather, huddle with other
people to stay warm.
25. DROWNING
Drowning is defined as respiratory impairment from
being in or under a liquid. It is further classified by
outcome into: death, ongoing health problems, and no
ongoing health problems. Drowning itself is quick and
silent, although it may be preceded by distress which is
more visible.
26. Causes of drowning:
•an inability to swim
•panic in the water
•leaving children unattended near bodies of water
•leaving babies unattended, even for a short period of time, in
bath tubs
•falling through thin ice
•alcohol consumption while swimming or on a boat
•concussion, seizure, or heart attack while in water
•suicide attempt
