Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

dibawa untuk mikir yang “ndakik-ndakik”.

tamu, dilengkapi dengan musik dan nyanyi-nyanyi.

beda pendapat dengan Bang Mail. Cita-citanya jadi
musikus terkenal.

Putri pertama Bang Mail. Mahasiswi semester dua.
Cantik tapi konyol
4. Leli:
Putri kedua Bang Mail. SMU. Cantik tapi konyol juga.

5. Yu Gemes:
Perawan tua. Sebenarnya parasnya cantik, tetapi
ngablaknya minta ampun. Wanita perkasa sebab dia bisa
mengerjakan apa saja, baik pekerjaan laki-laki maupun
perempuan. Punya standar kriteria yang tinggi untuk
calon suami. Itulah sebabnya sampai usianya kepala tiga
masih lajang
6. Mas Juleng:
Cakep tapi culun. Polos, hatinya mulia. Sejak kecil
bercita-cita jadi penyiar. Maka ketika kesempatan itu
datang, langsung disabetnya hingga akhirnya jadi
penyiar sukses.
7. Bintang tamu:
Berganti-ganti disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan cerita.
Mereka bisa pelawak atau selebriti non-komedian.

8. Orkes:
Orkes dalam konteks ini adalah grup musik akustik yang
bisa memainkan lagu secara kreatif dan bernuansa
humor, yakni Grup Congrock (Keroncong rock)
Semarang dan Grup Kerontjong Toegoe Jakarta. Untuk
sementara kedua grup itu memenuhi kriteria. Tetapi
tidak menutup kemungkinan memberi kesempatan
kepada kelompok muda.
9. Penyanyi:
Bisa memanfaatkan penyanyi-penyanyi baru atau yang
sudah punya nama. Kemunculannya bisa bergantian per
episode. Atau bisa juga diborongkan pada grup orkes.
Yang jelas elemen musik dan penyanyi menjadi satu
kesatuan dengan cerita.

SINOPSIS GLOBAL
Cerita ini terjadi di sebuah kampung urban yang dihuni
oleh beragam penduduk dari berbagai suku/latar
belakang budaya. Ada Betawi asli, Madura, Jogja,
Ambon, Batak, keturunan Arab, Cina totok, dll.
Di kampung inilah Bang Mail tinggal. Dia seniman
kampung sekaligus pimpinan Orkes Madun yang
terkenal. Hampir setiap hari rumahnya yang luas selalu
riuh oleh genjrang-genjreng bunyi musik dan nyanyian
para biduan.
Bang Mail sudah lama menduda. Dia hidup bersama dua
anak perempuannnya yang sudah remaja, Lala dan Leli.
Selain itu masih ada Bang Komet, adik dan asisten
pribadi Bang Mail yang yang sok jago.
Di depan rumah Bang Mail ada warung kecil tempat Yu
Gemes jualan sekaligus tinggal. Perawan tua ini tinggal
bersama adiknya, Mas Juleng yang culun dan bercita-
cita jadi penyiar.

SINOPSIS GLOBAL
Bang Mail dan Yu Gemes sudah lama congkrah alias tidak
akur. Tetapi celakanya, anak-anak dan keponakan Bang Mail
diam-diam jatuh hati pada Mas Juleng sehingga timbul “bahasa
cinta” yang unik di antara mereka. Lebih celaka lagi, diam-diam
ada persaingan antara Bang Mail dan Bang Komet dalam
merebut hati Yu Gemes.
Bang Mail mendirikan stasiun radio sangat lokal (selanjutnya
elemen radio lokal menjadi medium interaktif dengan pemirsa).
Uniknya, Bang Mail memilih Mas Juleng sebagai penyiar. Akan
tetapi setiap kali radio sudah mengudara, Bang Mail dan Bang
Komet selalu intervensi seenak udelnya. Jadi jangan heran jika
di saat Mas Juleng sedang asyik bercuap-cuap tiba-tiba Bang
Mail atau Bang Komet merebut mike dan ikut cuap-cuap.
Begitulah interaksi unik antar orangt-orang unik itu terus
menjadi benang merah episode demi episode. Sentral cerita
bisa ke pihak keluarga Bang Mail, bisa pula keluarga Yu
Gemes. Selain tokoh-tokoh benang merah itu, ada sejunmlah
bintang tamu pelawak yang akan menjadi sumber konflik cerita.

KONSEP ARTISTIK
Studio dibagi dalam tiga bagian set dengan rincian
sebagai berikut:
Set I:
Beranda rumah Bang Mail. Di beranda inilah orkes
dan biduan beraksi, nyanyi-nyanyi, joget, dsb.
Set II :
Beranda rumah Yu Gemes. Di sinilah Gemes
menggelar dagangannya. Ada dua kursi panjang
untuk pembeli. Set II terhubung dengan set I dengan
perantaraan lorong kecil yang berfungsi sebagai
halaman.
Set III:
Studio radio. Ada meja-kursi untuk kebutuhan
wawancara canda dengan bintang tamu.

SINOPSIS EPISODE 01
Bang Mail akan punya gawe. Selamatan atas suksesnya
Grup Orkes Madun yang dimpinannya sekaligus
peletakan batu pertama pendirian pemancar radio yang
sudah lama diimpikannya. Maka orkes latihan saban hari.
Sementara Yu Gemes sedang menahan sakit dan selalu
emosi. Lebih emosi lagi karena suara gedumbreng musik
di depan warungnya. Apalagi dia lagi sendirian. Maka dia

Tetapi latihan tetap latihan, tak menghiraukan omelan Yu
Gemes. Bahkan menurut Bang Komet, suara Yu Gemes
bisa menjadi penambah suasana. Kreativitas Bang
Komet muncul. Suara nyap-nyap Yu Gemes malah
dijadikan elemen musiknya, mirip penyanyi rap. Di saa
itulah Mas Juleng muncul, habis mudik. Dia bersama
Pakde Komar yang khusus menjenguk keponakan
tersayang.

SINOPSIS EPISODE 01
Yu gemes makin empot-empotan karena dia tak mengharapkan
Pakde Komar datang. Apalagi sampai menginap berhari-hari.
Sebaliknya Pakde Komar yang lugu justru sangat senang di
rumah Yu Gemes. Banyak makanan (maklum: warung) dan ada
hiburan musik tetangga. Gairah muda Pakde Komar bangkit
lagi. Dia jadi sok akrab dengan keluarga Bang Mail.
Yu Gemes sudah memperingatkan Pakde Komar agar jangan
kenal dan dekat-dekat dengan keluarga Bang Mali mengingat
hubungan bertetangga mereka sudah lama tidak harmonis. Tapi
Pakde bandel. Dia bahkan ikut joget bersama grup orkes.
Hal itu tentu saja membuat Yu Gemes gemes dan sakit hati. Dia
makin nyap-nyap tak karuan. Namun lagi-lagi Bang Komet
menemukan bakat luar biasa dari Yu Gemes untuk menjadi
penyanyi rap. Kreativitas Bang Komet makin menjadi-jadi.
Saking tidak kuat menahan sakit giginya, Yu Gemes pingsan.
Pada saat demikian ada tamu istimewa muncul. (NYAMBUNG
