1) The document describes two prototypes for helping Daniel find better options for eating lunch at work. 2) The first prototype is a program connected to a restaurant that allows employees to select their menu items for the day to help the restaurant estimate food quantities and reduce waste. 3) The second prototype is a mobile app that searches for nearby restaurants, shows their menus, suggests similar options, and estimates travel time from work to each restaurant.

1. Idea selection - Personalization of menu in restaurant
Problem statement – Daniel needs to find a better way to eat at work.
Prototype N°1 – He makes a deal with a restaurant to cook a
special meal for the employees. A computer program (connected
wireless to the restaurants) computer allows them to change menus
and estimate the amount of food to be cooked based on the
employees wishes to eat there that day, avoiding food waste.
Prototype N°2 – Create an App that uses a web search engine to
locate nearby restaurants and their daily menus based on what the
user types in. It also suggests other restaurants with a similar menu.
The app also gives a estimate of how much time the user will spend
from work to restaurant and back to work.
*OBSERVATION: To make these prototypes, I made some sketches
in paper than made these slides on powerpoint. Then i printed the
slides so that i could test the prototype with other people to get
the feedback for the assignment.

Once the user selects and clicks on the restaurant, this
window opens and the app calculates, based on his position
on the map, the time to go eat and go back to work. Also
shows him were the restaurant is on the map.

8. A brief reflection...
It’s always revealing to test prototypes! Prototyping is an
excellent tool for designers. By testing with prototypes i had a
few new ideas and could see were some of the existing ideas
would not work. By talking to people i got a new perspective
on how to tackle my problem. Somethings that ‘felt’ right on
paper did not do so good when tested.
If i was to continue working on the project, i’d review some
material and start prototyping again. I could see there is a long
way to go to really solve the problem.
