FAST-
CHARGE
FLEXIBLE
FAST-CHARGING
THAT FITS EASILY INTO
BUS ROUTES AND
SCHEDULES.
The Proterra®
fast-charge system allows for maximum run time and
minimum wait time. On-route charging can be completed in the time
needed to stop for passengers or a quick driver break. This way, you can
maintain a 24/7 transit system while minimizing extended charging time.
It’s the best of both worlds.
One charging station can accommodate up to 8 buses; even more
when utilized in a larger scale deployment. The charging station is
specifically designed for the average bus route serving downtown
business loops or tourist areas.
For more information on Proterra, please visit proterra.com.
How the Proterra charging station works:
Once the Proterra®
bus comes within range of the charging station, the station wirelessly connects with the bus
and automatically limits the bus speed to allow for connection. Although the bus is speed limited, the driver
retains full control of the bus at all times during the charging process.
Safe for passengers, safe for drivers.
• All high-voltage areas are clearly identified and designed with redundant automatic and manual service
disconnects
• An automatic insulation test is performed at the beginning of each charge to confirm the safety and integrity
of all high-voltage cables used during the charging process
• During the charging process, the system is constantly monitoring isolation and will cancel the charging process
if an alert occurs
• Multiple separate controllers audit the charging process and each has the capability of cancelling the charge
if anything appears abnormal
• In addition, our composite body, while contributing to overall lighter weight and durability, does not conduct
electricity

A FOCUS ON
SAFETY, FROM TOP
TO BOTTOM.
Proterra’s®
electric bus utilizes proven, road-tested safety design features.
It is built with a composite body that utilizes the highest strength-to-
weight ratio material available. The composite body utilizes carbon
fiber in key impact and seating areas to further improve strength and
crash resistance.
Battery placement is a critical component of safety. Unlike other electric
buses, Proterra bus batteries are integrated into the vehicle floor,
between the front and rear axles, to keep them isolated from the
passenger compartment and below the vehicle impact line. And all are
reinforced by S2 fiberglass/Kevlar containment structures.
SAFETY
For more information on Proterra, please visit proterra.com.
Electric bus technology safety procedures:
•	All high-voltage areas are clearly identified and designed with
redundant automatic and manual service disconnects
•	An automatic insulation test is performed at the beginning of each
charge to confirm the safety and integrity of all high-voltage cables used
during the charging process
•	During the charging process, the system is constantly monitoring isolation
and will immediately cancel the charging process if an alert occurs
Smart, safe battery placement:
• Improves vehicle dynamics due to the low vehicle center of gravity
• Assists in weight distribution for optimal braking and traction
• Keeps batteries isolated from the passenger compartment
• Provides improved protection from collision impact
• Batteries are protected from the elements in water-tight containers
