The Town of Scituate began work in 2013 to design a new combined public safety facility to replace the outdated 1958 police headquarters and fire station. A study evaluated the existing facilities and needs, analyzed potential sites, and developed a schematic for a 27,583 square foot facility. The proposed site at the Ellis Estate was selected for its access, size and ability to improve response times. The new facility would improve safety, security, functionality and efficiency through consolidated operations and upgraded spaces for police, fire and emergency response functions.
