This document outlines a proposed research project that will explore how adults can best support young children's drawing behaviors. The research will involve observing interactions between 20 expert early childhood educators and the young children they work with during drawing activities. The goals are to understand the educator's role in supporting drawing, how different types of interactions can help or constrain children's drawing, and how educators can tune into children's needs and appropriately intervene. The project will collect data through observations, interviews, photos/videos, and educators' reflective journals. Strict protocols for obtaining consent and ensuring anonymity/confidentiality will be followed.
