The proposal summarizes a poster campaign for the action comedy film "Temptation in Glass." It includes details on the format and sizes of posters, descriptions of the main, character, and theater posters, including images and fonts to be used. The target audience is males and females aged 15-30. Posters will feature a cat staring at a fish in a fishbowl as a metaphor and will be distributed on social media, in city centers, and train stations to appeal to and market to the intended younger demographic.

PURPOSE. LO1/M1
The purpose of my movie poster is to entertain, it’s an action comedy movie.
DESCRIPTION OF PRODUCT (GENRE & PLOT ELEMENTS FEATURED)
I am going to produce a film poster campaign for an action comedy film as a part of the promotional
materials for the movie Temptation in glass as required by the Film 4 brief.
The film will be about Russian scammers that tricked the drug cartel into buying their new hallucinogen
which doesn’t even exist. They are constantly on the run and sometimes end up accidentally helping out
the police in catching the criminals they scam. However, my poster will feature a metaphor for this chase
with a cat staring into a small fish bowl with a fish implying it has nowhere to go and is trapped and
defenceless against the predatory cat standing above it.
OUTLINE OF STYLE
Main poster: this will have the cat staring at a fish inside the fish bowl with its face slightly warped to give
the extra comedy element to it. Because this image is taken from the internet I might substitute the fish in
the image for a photograph of one of my guppies at home since they’re more colorful and prettier which will
attract more attention of the viewer. Ive decided this because I really like movie posters that don’t show
any characters or plot points of the movie. Its adds more curiosity and has a nice aesthetic in my opinion.
Character poster: in this poster ill use my friend’s cat because he suits the color scheme nicely and is a
great comedian himself.
Theatre poster: a bunch of fish under water. Since there is a fish in the main poster I this this is a suitable
choice. Ill be changing it to a photo of guppies most probably.
Font: this bulky bold font on my mood-board is perfect for the title of my poster since its inspired by most
comedy movies as its this informal and silly text its perfect.
The recurring theme in my campaign posters will be the use of the elements on the poster like the cat and
fish, font and color scheme.
IMAGE LIST & BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Main poster:
This will be a full straight body shot of the cat with the fish in front, its simple but effective at
showing them. Again, my intention is to only imply the plot and not show it directly.
Character poster:
This is a long close up of my friends cat for a more dramatic effect that adds a sense of
unpredictability to the image. Its like a fast zoom in but in photograph form.
Theatre poster:
Underside close up, the camera will be positioned underneath the fish looking up at an angle to
show the underside of the fish making them seem more vulnerable.

2. POSTER CAMPAIGN PROPOSAL
Font: The bulky bold font on my mood-board is perfect for the title of my poster since its inspired by most
comedy movies as its this informal and silly text its perfect. Ill use the font red hands on Dafont for the rest
of my text, it’s a little less exaggerated but still fits the theme of the font and is a bit easier on the eyes.
Billing block: I will use the font “skinny” off of dafont for my billing block in order to fit all the information I
need and make it differentiate from the main font which is bigger. This will also allow me to fit all the
information I need about actors and studios the movie will be produced in.
TARGET AUDIENCE (AGE, GENDER, LIFESTYLE, INTERESTS, SPENDING
POWER)
My target audience are both males and females aged from teens to late 30s with a 15 certificate to entice a
mass audience. As clearly stated in the brief.
The protagonist of my film will be in their early twenties in order to evoke relatability in the audience.
Furthermore the audience will be in lower to middle class in terms of wealth since this film is a comedy
criminal which would hopefully shed some entertainment to serious topics like crime.
HOW THE POSTERS WILL APPEAL TO THE AUDIENCE
My take on an action comedy poster is less traditional than your average poster featuring a cat and fish as
a metaphor for something unattainable but trapped. Younger audiences will like the cat and fish since its
face will be warped because of the glass while older audiences might understand the metaphor its trying to
convey. While this genre is better catered towards an older audience it doesn’t mean the younger wont
understand what its about since the ‘younger demographic is around 15 therefore they aren’t exactly
children nor adults. Since my film is a crime comedy it will shed a bit of light on the darker world of crime
making it slightly more lighthearted for the younger audience while still retaining the adrenaline rush that
action gives from these serious situations.
DISTRIBUTION
Distribution is the process of making a movie available for audience viewing accompanied by promotion.
Posters are a great form of distribution for a film since it isn’t forced to give away any key plot points or
major action scenes and is allowed to keep the film more of a secret unlike a trailer.
The poster will have actor names, dates of release and the title and taglines to entice an audience other
than just having an image.
Poster have been used even since theatrics to advertise performances all over a city which then went onto
films and movies so that people knew about it before the internet was even around. While some may find it
old fashioned and boring there are cases and billboards that light up and move to add a modern twist to
just plastering posters on a random wall. It makes people actually look at it instead of glance and walk on.
Character posters are included alongside the main film poster to give a sort of insight on the main stars to
get an audience connected to them before they’ve even watch the film, similarly to how trailers will have
dedicated sections to slightly introduce a character without giving away any major information.
Due to the current events of covid I believe posters will be a great way of distributing my film since its died
down recently and people are allowed to go outside and they want to go outside meaning they will see the
poster at some point. In addition to this ill have posters around the city centre and train stations since thats
where my target audience likes to spend their time. Similarly, as technology has seen a significant
increase my poster will be distributed via social media such as instagram, facebook and twitter.
MARKETING - HOW & WHERE THE POSTERS WILL BE ADVERTISED
My posters will mainly be advertised on social media because due to the current state of the world many
people still are staying inside meaning they are most likely on their phones or watching the tv. Also
because the younger generation is closely associated with new and emerging technology they will know
most about it meaning it’s a great place to further distribute my film poster. Additionally, there will be a brief
description of my film along with the posts and perhaps some screenshots of the movie making it almost a
tailer but not exactly so that the curiosity of my audience will stay peaked.

POSITION IN THE MARKETPLACE
My posters mostly match the Spencer confidential poster I analysed in my research specifically with the
colour palette. Colour is extremely important and can mean many things no matter the age or gender of
the audience. As you can see, I’ve used a selection of yellow to navy hues with the small pop of green to
distinguish the fish better. As I’ve mentioned in my research, the use of yellow is extremely popular among
comedy action movie posters as it can signify a variety of things ranging from happiness, silliness to
hazards, illness and caution. Paired with the delicate blue tones and greys representing loyalty and
sophistication that will be apparent in the film.
Ive noticed that more films of this genre as well as others are using less and less of a variety of colours
such as simplified posters of inception and films like US and Sinister which use a limited colour palette
perhaps because it gives of a more modernised effect which can either be positive or negative depending
on how well its done.
RESOURCES
Ill use a drawing application on my iPad to make the mages and block out the colours to make it match the
posters I have on my mood-board as well as powerpoint to manipulate them a bit more.
