HFM, Workspace, and FDM – Voiding your warrantyCharles Beyer
While these three products work well out of the box and offer plenty of functionality for end users, administrators and power users are always looking for ways to increase productivity and functionality of their tools. While some updates have introduced functionality for the administrators/power users such as LCM, there are plenty of areas that could be improved. Gathering system usage statistics, performing bulk import/export operations between development/production environments, improving data import/export, generating more useful security audit data, and improving system performance are all items that can be improved upon.
This presentation will provide viewers with a selection of real world “hacks” that they can apply to their environments. Viewers will first be presented with a low level technical discussion on how these products work and how they can leverage that knowledge. Fully working “hacks” are also attached at the end of the powerpoint.

Slow, Flaky and Legacy Tests: FTFY - Our New Testing Strategy at Net-A-Porter...Sauce Labs
As part of a recent replatforming exercise, Net-A-Porter has worked hard not only to refresh their technology, but to create a great testing culture. As a result, they have come a long way from “throwing tests over the wall.” Testing concerns are now part of their NFRs and technical decisions. Developers are responsible for unit and functional tests, working alongside test specialists who are part of every delivery team for guidance.
In this SauceCon 2018 session, Adela Mosincat and James Collins will walk attendees through how Sauce Labs has helped in this process. She will review how the “test-runner” was born to facilitate the consistent and seamless running of their tests on Sauce Labs across teams. The test-runner is a Docker image, whose purpose is to handle the running of the tests both locally and in their CI pipeline. It parallelizes the tests as much as possible, executes intelligent waiting for VMs and retrying for flaky tests, supports test tagging and quarantining and handles reporting to both Sauce Labs and Jenkins.
In addition to the test-runner, Adela and Jim will review how Net-A-Porter improved their dev/test culture and CI pipeline, and share what they learned along the way.

Jedne służą do przetwarzania real-time, drugie lepiej spisują się w workloadach batchowych.

Database performance affects organizational performance, and we tend to look for quick fixes when under stress. But how can we better understand our database workload and factors that may cause harm to it? What are the limitations in MongoDB that could potentially impact cluster performance?
In this talk, we will show you how to identify the factors that limit database performance. We will start with the free MongoDB Cloud monitoring tools. Then we will move on to log files and queries. To be able to achieve optimal use of hardware resources, we will take a look into kernel optimization and other crucial OS settings. Finally, we will look into how to examine performance of MongoDB replication.
There are many common workloads in R that are "embarrassingly parallel": group-by analyses, simulations, and cross-validation of models are just a few examples. In this talk I'll describe several techniques available in R to speed up workloads like these, by running multiple iterations simultaneously, in parallel.
Many of these techniques require the use of a cluster of machines running R, and I'll provide examples of using cloud-based services to provision clusters for parallel computations. In particular, I will describe how you can use the SparklyR package to distribute data manipulations using the dplyr syntax, on a cluster of servers provisioned in the Azure cloud.

Integration Testing in Enterprises using TaaSAnand Bagmar
Typically in organizations, there are multiple projects / products. These products may be of implemented using tech-stacks over many years. Yet - they interact with each other in some way. To manage the complexity around Test Automation, many organizations prefer to have a common Test Automation solution across these products in an effort to build, standardize and maintain the framework.
However, this is not a good idea! With this approach one potentially ends up having to compromise on the quality of automation that can be done for each product, limited by the toolset.
The better approach would be to use the tools and technologies that are "right" for each product. This does have other disadvantages, but you would ensure each product is well tested! The only missing piece that remains is that these different products talk with each other. You need to test the integration between them in an automated way to verify all is well.
"TaaS" is an open-source product solution that allows you do achieve the "correct" way of doing integration testing across a variety of products via Test Automation.
Example:
For one set of products, Selenium-based toolset may be the right choice, where as for legacy reasons, QTP may be used for some other product. With TaaS - you will be able to automate the Integration Testing between these products, by re-using the tests already implemented in the individual product suites.

Launch Your Streaming Platforms in MinutesRoshan Dwivedi
The claim of launching a streaming platform in minutes might be a bit of an exaggeration, but there are services that can significantly streamline the process. Here's a breakdown:
Pros of Speedy Streaming Platform Launch Services:
No coding required: These services often use drag-and-drop interfaces or pre-built templates, eliminating the need for programming knowledge.
Faster setup: Compared to building from scratch, these platforms can get you up and running much quicker.
All-in-one solutions: Many services offer features like content management systems (CMS), video players, and monetization tools, reducing the need for multiple integrations.
Things to Consider:
Limited customization: These platforms may offer less flexibility in design and functionality compared to custom-built solutions.
Scalability: As your audience grows, you might need to upgrade to a more robust platform or encounter limitations with the "quick launch" option.
Features: Carefully evaluate which features are included and if they meet your specific needs (e.g., live streaming, subscription options).
Examples of Services for Launching Streaming Platforms:
Muvi [muvi com]
Uscreen [usencreen tv]
Alternatives to Consider:
Existing Streaming platforms: Platforms like YouTube or Twitch might be suitable for basic streaming needs, though monetization options might be limited.
Custom Development: While more time-consuming, custom development offers the most control and flexibility for your platform.
Overall, launching a streaming platform in minutes might not be entirely realistic, but these services can significantly speed up the process compared to building from scratch. Carefully consider your needs and budget when choosing the best option for you.
