INDIRA_B :INDIcators for Reliability and Variability of Bus Systems
A project supported by IFCPAR carried out by two academic laboratories
IFSTTAR/COSYS/GRETTIA and IIT Delhi/TRIPP
and an industrial operator DIMTS (Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System Ltd., India)
Objectives
To develop performance indicators and design a bus fleet "supervision
cockpit" for bus operators, passengers and public transport authorities
Four types of indicators
Contacts
IFSTTAR: Neila BHOURI, neila.bhouri@ifsttar.fr
IIT Delhi: Geetam TIWARI, geetamt@civil.iitd.ac.in
DIMTS: Prashant KUMAR TIWARI, prashant.tiwari@dimts.in
Based on
 Socio-economical
 Impact on congestion, air pollution and accidents
 Potential for retaining existing demand by improving
performance of current bus system
 Allowing universal access and barrier free mobility
 Passenger
 Door to door travel time
 Waiting time and comfort
 Total walk distance
 Total delay
 Planning/Systemic
 Scheduling, Speed management
 Reliability, Resilience
 Operational
 For supervisors to monitor bus line performance in
real time
 For incident detection using AVL and ETM data
 ClaireSITI multimodal and multicriteria
integrated platform
 Data fusion
 Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL)
 Electronic Ticketing Machine (ETM)
