Future social networking services (SNS) will become virtual plazas where all interactions between people and data occur. SNS interfaces will expand beyond websites to wearable devices like smartwatches, glasses, and jewelry. Content on SNS will be highly personalized and integrated with other functions like messaging, calls, and personal apps. As more devices are connected through the Internet of Things, SNS will allow people to interact virtually anywhere through augmented and virtual reality technologies.

Multi Screen Breakfast Seminar 15th February 2013fivebyfive
No iPad, Nexus 7, Kindle, Nook, Smart TV or iPhone 5 under your Christmas tree? You need to have a word with Santa, or maybe you are already among the 40% of the UK population who own one of these devices.
The multi-screen world, where people use a combination of phones, tablets, computers and televisions to consume content, is fast becoming commonplace.
Here we explore the benefits of developing digital content for multiple-screens. We cover how consumer journeys are evolving, touch on hot topics such as ‘responsive design’ and present some of the multi-screen content we’ve developed that involves pairing screens. Delivered by Tom Chapman, Head of Innovation at Five by Five on 15th February 2013 (Southampton) and 15th March 2013 (London) as part of of the agency's ongoing program of breakfast seminars.
Adapted from an original blog post by the same name, this presentation covers the evolution of the cell phone from a practical innovation to an expression of our identities.

Often having been developed for use by younger generations, most IT services and smartphone apps can be difficult to use for elderly people. In 2016, recognizing the need for apps that take into account the way seniors use smartphones, Masako Wakamiya began learning the programming language Swift, before releasing her iOS game “hinadan” in February 2017. She was selected to participate in the scholarship program of Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference 2017 (WWDC2017). In his keynote speech, Apple CEO Tim Cook introduced her as the oldest developer at the conference at age 81.
Despite having no previous experience in IT or programming, Wakamiya decided to buy her first computer after her retirement at the age of 60 so she could “connect with more people.” In 1999, as the internet was beginning to take off, she was involved in the creation of a website aimed at elderly people called Mellow Club, where she launched the Mellow Denshokan – a project to archive the accounts of those who had lived through the Pacific War. In 2005, the project was awarded the Culture Prize at the Japan session of the United Nations World Summit on the Information Society.
Wakamiya believes that it is important to enjoy what you are doing, even when you face setbacks. She demonstrates that IT can be learned by anyone regardless of age or experience and that through the use of technology anyone can get involved. This prize is awarded in recognition of her limitless energy for taking on new challenges and also the expectation of further success in the future.

Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.

3. Future SNS will expand from the mere platform where
people produce, manufacture, share and consume
information to a ‘Virtual Plaza’ where all interactions
between people and data occur.
“ ”
5. 01
function overview
SNS involves much of sharing photos, videos and messages.
There will be more desire for sharing moments with others
and the sharing methods will increase as well.
6. Interface is not limited to a particular website, but it could be contact
lenses, watch, glasses, necklace, which is physically closer in personal
reach. Also SNS will incorporate various technologies such as gesture/
motion recognition and voice recognition.
function overview
02
8. Now we see the interfaces on screen with physical devices but we
would be able to project an interface (screen) with hologram anytime
and anywhere. It will also give auditory or tactile feedbacks utilising
Artificial Intelligence.
function overview
03
9. Also the contents offered by SNS would be personalised to users.
And SNS would work as a search engine as well. As SNS provides
more personalised contents, those personalised contents
would have bigger decision making power.
function overview
04
10. Calls, messages, e-mail, personal apps (scheduling, alarm, notes etc.)
all become integrated into SNS with no specific interface
limited to a “website.”
function overview
05
11. With the development of the iOT’s, everything will be connected
to the SNS. So we can be connected to anyone with any of
the devices around us.
function overview
06
12. Online interaction will be as active as offline interaction now. SNS will
have another form of Virtual Reality. People would feel as if they are in
another world where everything they do is tracked down and
presented like the game SIMS.
function overview
07
13. We would be able to teleport with holograms and Augmented
Reality programs.

15. persona
#1 Mina (Freelancer, 25)
• Mina likes to be around with
other people rather than being alone.
• Her working hours are flexible.
• She is very outgoing both on online
and offline.
• She is an active SNS user.
16. user scenario
Mina likes to share photos with those who have interest in photography.
One day, she sees a beautiful scenery as she walks along the street.
She captures the scenery with 360 degree camera and immediately uploads the
captured moment on SNS. As her friends get notified by her newest posting,
they review it in different formats. They see it as it is presented.
They also move into a virtual space where they can experience with all their
senses. However, when Mina does not want to share her moment with
everyone she invites her friends in a private mode so they can join her at real
time instead of publishing her post publicly.
01
17. user scenario
Mina comes back from her work. She projects a screen to see her friends’
postings. She looks through the news feed sitting on a sofa. Soon she feels
hungry. So she moves to the kitchen. She fixes the screen on the wall in front
of the sink. As she starts cooking, she search for a recipe for oil pasta on SNS.
It brings her to a posting on the Facebook page that she often visits. And
automatically the video for the recipe she searched for plays.
02
18. user scenario
It is Mina’s boyfriend’s birthday. She does not know what she should give to her
boyfriend. So she sends out a request for sharing information on SNS. Her
boyfriend selects only those that he wants to share. Before he allows her to
review his information, he gives permission by iris recognition system. Mina
searches on SNS with the information provided by her boyfriend. And she
receives some suggestions for a birthday gift.
03
19. user scenario
Mina suddenly feels nostalgic after calling her peer from the elementary
school. So she uploads a message on SNS saying she wants to have a meeting
with all her friends. On the meeting day, everyone meets up at a virtual space
(something like a chat room).
04
20. user scenario
Mina hasn’t seen her friends in her hometown for ages because she has
moved to another region for college. She is growing homesick, so she leaves
a message to the friend. Few minutes later, the friend replies with a phone
call (video chat). As she receives the phone call, Mina feels as if her friend is
right in front of her through holoportation.

rice cooker analyses and uploads such information as the glutinosity and
nutrition properties on the Internet. And Gyeongja uploads these data on
the rice cooker database. Other people can review this recipe and directly
ask questions to Gyeongja. Or other people can apply the data to their own
rice cooker. Gyeongja receives certain amount of royalty whenever people
use her recipe.
01
user scenario
23. After her husband leaves for work, Gyeongja takes a break. She sits on the
sofa and has a conversation with her friend through the interface. As she
engages in the conversation, she suddenly can’t recall a word. She knows what
the word is but is unable to recall the exact word. The network system catches
Gyeongja’s bewildered facial expression and provides a set of words based on
the database and the analysis of the context in the conversation. Gyeongja
continues the conversation with the word she selects from the given options.
With this system, Gyeongja has been able to express her thoughts more
accurately and effectively.
