3. RATIONALE
This project was designed in collaboration with AICS Tanay (Asian Institute of Computer
Studies) for students encountering difficulty in using a computer. Project BFF is a program
that aims to enhance the basic use of software used in lessons and instructions. This also
aims to develop their confidence in using the computer so they can also teach other students.
The previous two years of pandemic affected the computer skills of the learners, yes
they are spending hours each day on Facebook , Youtube and Tiktok but they don’t even
know how to use Word, PowerPoint and Excel - they are digitally naïve. We can simply tell
that most kids can’t use computers and the truth is, kids can’t use general purpose
computers, they can’t even turn on and off a computer, they are not technically savvy.
To carry out this project, it is necessary to have available facilities suitable for the competence
they must acquire. so, the computer laboratory should be available to the students, but the
school lacks the facilities to carry out the project, fortunately, AICS Tanay (Asian Institute of
Computer Studies), offered to use their facility to accommodate the students of our school.
This agreement will help students acquire competencies in information technology and can
use it in their daily life activities and meet the demands of 21st-century skills.
