Agricultural growth in Africa has slowed in recent years, threatening progress toward ending hunger. While agricultural output and value-added doubled between 2000-2017, and poverty and malnutrition declined, growth has stagnated since 2015. Public agricultural expenditures have stalled or declined across most of Africa since 2015, except in North Africa. Key indicators are now showing signs of decline for the first time in decades. Continued policy renewal and higher investments are needed to get back on track towards achieving the Malabo goal of ending hunger in Africa.
