An intercultural school holiday programme for learners incorporating
the communities of Muizenberg, Vrygrond and Westlake. Jungle
Theatre Company will facilitate a multidisciplinary workshop pro-
gramme, which will culminate in the performance and Muizenberg
Parade celebrating the natural environment of Muizenberg.
HAND IN HAND CREATIVES MUSE WORKSHOP
Alive Dance Studio | Workshop I 10am-3pm
Building communities through the creative arts, Hand in Hand Creatives
facilitate workshops bridging children from Capricorn/Vrygrond with
Muizenberg’s arts community. The workshops end with performances
and exhibitions over the festival weekend, that showcase the dance,
music, mask making, and capoeira practiced during the workshops.
NURTURING STREETS INTERVENTION

Join Chris The Marvelous Mouth Tokalon, musician, voice artist and
wacky walking windbag for this 1 man 1 mouth show ‘Don’t Tune Me
I’ll Tune You!’ Multi tracking his voice live with a loop sampler (bass,
drums, mouth trumpet ect) he includes real sax and flute in a unique,
entertaining and highly original performance of vocal gymnastics.
‘THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST’ REHEARSAL

A rare opportunity for the public to attend a rehearsal of Act Three of
Oscar Wilde’s popular high comedy “The Importance of being Earnest”.
After the rehearsal there will be time for questions and answers. “The
Importance of being Earnest” is a “trivial comedy for serious people” or
is it the other way round? Presented by MADS and directed by Barbara
Basel it promises to be highly entertaining.

Trading System (LETS) for Muizenberg. The MZCE will encourage ex-
change of goods and services for Muizos or Mz/R combinations before
and during the festival. We will also have workshops on LETS systems
and how it can boost our local economy.

MEMORY
Masque Theatre | Theatre I 3-5pm
Memory is a story by Theatre for Africa’s Nicholas Ellenbogen and was
created by Theatre for Africa Veteran Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
It is a story for all ages that speaks about the universal impulse of loving
animals. The show dabbles in different languages such as Zulu, Xhosa and
English, as it takes the audience on a trip through that of humanity’s rela-
tionship to the elephant using animal mime, African storytelling and dance.

Peter Gilchrist returns to the Masque to impersonate Oscar Wilde on
the one hand and Noël Coward on the other. Peter takes the audience
seamlessly through Wilde’s aphorisms and ‘paradoxical bon mots’ to the
Gothic horrors of Dorian Gray and on to the ‘forbidden preposterous’
Lady Bracknell. This is lampoonery at its best!

From the Blue Bird Garage Exhibition you are invited to take a map and

tions and discussion facilitated by Paul Weinberg; this forms part of a
HUMA sponsored event called Cape Town Commons.

Expect a selection of locally designed jewellery, clothing, furniture and other
goods. The Blue Bird Garage Market will be transformed into an exhibition
space showcasing both a Fine Art and Design exhibition over the weekend.

From the Bluebird Garage exhibition you are invited to take a map and
begin a walking tour through Muizenberg’s vibrant heritage quarter 
taking a look in the homes and studios of its most colorful and creative
residents. There are 24 venues taking part who will be creating and
exhibiting ceramics, fine art, collage, mosaic, sculpture, jewelry,
illustration, photography and lots, lots more.

INTERCULTURAL ARTS WORKSHOPS Blue Bird Garage | Workshop I 9am-3pm An intercultural school holiday programme for learners incorporating the communities of Muizenberg, Vrygrond and Westlake. Jungle Theatre Company will facilitate a multidisciplinary workshop pro- gramme, which will culminate in the performance and Muizenberg Parade celebrating the natural environment of Muizenberg. HAND IN HAND CREATIVES MUSE WORKSHOP Alive Dance Studio | Workshop I 10am-3pm Building communities through the creative arts, Hand in Hand Creatives facilitate workshops bridging children from Capricorn/Vrygrond with Muizenberg’s arts community. The workshops end with performances and exhibitions over the festival weekend, that showcase the dance, music, mask making, and capoeira practiced during the workshops. NURTURING STREETS INTERVENTION Festival Base | Exhibition | 10am-12pm Changing the perception of youth who have taken to the street, the NSC is about engaging with children who experience the streets as hostile spaces. Finding out more about the people in the community and surrounds and making their stories available through the website. TOONLAB WORKSHOP: ‘POLITICAL CARTOONING’ Alive Café | Workshop | 3-5pm A day in the life of a political cartoonist with Brandan Reynolds (Weekend Argus, Business Day, Rapport). POETRY PLUS Alive Café | Performance | 6-7pm John Cartwright (narrator) and Leroy Cowie (double-bass) perform a festival medley of poems about the sea, including Tennyson’s ‘Ulysses’ and dramatic ‘Last Double-bass Player on the Titanic’. CHRIS TOKALON Alive Dance Studio | Music I 7-8.30pm Join Chris The Marvelous Mouth Tokalon, musician, voice artist and wacky walking windbag for this 1 man 1 mouth show ‘Don’t Tune Me I’ll Tune You!’ Multi tracking his voice live with a loop sampler (bass, drums, mouth trumpet ect) he includes real sax and flute in a unique, entertaining and highly original performance of vocal gymnastics. ‘THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST’ REHEARSAL False Bay Rendevous | Theatre | 7.30-10pm A rare opportunity for the public to attend a rehearsal of Act Three of Oscar Wilde’s popular high comedy “The Importance of being Earnest”. After the rehearsal there will be time for questions and answers. “The Importance of being Earnest” is a “trivial comedy for serious people” or is it the other way round? Presented by MADS and directed by Barbara Basel it promises to be highly entertaining. MEMORY Masque Theatre | Theatre I 3-5pm Memory is a story by Theatre for Africa’s Nicholas Ellenbogen and was created by Theatre for Africa Veteran Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi. It is a story for all ages that speaks about the universal impulse of loving animals. The show dabbles in different languages such as Zulu, Xhosa and English, as it takes the audience on a trip through that of humanity’s rela- tionship to the elephant using animal mime, African storytelling and dance. Peter takes the audience seamlessly through Wilde’s aphorisms and ‘paradoxical bon mots’ to the Gothic horrors of Dorian Gray and on to the ‘forbidden preposterous’ Lady Bracknell.
