  • #4 What: Teach How: Virginia Standards Why: Big Question. Why, drives what we do and how we do it. It is the magnet that draws people together who share the same vision and seek the same results. Question: Why are you at Alliance Academy? What is your passion? Have teachers write on paper. Each table shouts out a Why Elaborate on why we are all here – find common purpose: Student Learning Question: How do we become better at that? Write on Paper. Shout out answers. Question: What steps do we need to do to accomplish that? Write on paper and shout out. Bring in Common Purpose: Student Learning, Growth, etc.. How will we know when we have accomplished our why?

  • #6 On Blank Piece of paper write: Student Learning On each puzzle piece write something we are doing as a community to measure and improve student learning. How do we assess the effectiveness of student learning?
  • #7 Each one of us carry a pieces of the puzzle. We all bring gifts, talents, background knowledge, and expertise.
  • #8 When we work in isolation, we don’t give our students the benefits that can come from different people in our community. How can we make this happen? How do we make our shared ideas, hopes and goals for our students a reality? Pull “student learning” paper allowing puzzle to drop.
  • #9 It takes all of us working together to complete our vision for Alliance Academy, for our students and their future.
  • #10 We do this through Professional Learning Communities. They are the glue that unite us as grade-level teachers, departments, and as a school. Otherwise, we simply fall apart.
