1) The king sends for Mamad, a man who never lies. Mamad promises he has never and will never lie. 2) A nobleman named James grows jealous of Mamad and plots to get rid of him. 3) Through manipulation, James tricks the king into sending Mamad away and then having him executed for supposedly lying. 4) James eventually poisons the king and takes the throne, ruling as a tyrannical and abusive taxer. The people revolt and overthrow James, ending the monarchy.
