1. Production Diary
Filming day one Tuesday 10th November 2015 Dunstable Downs and Katherine
Drive:
Downs:
The first day of filming happened from 2:10 to 4:10 roughly two hours. Everyone
for the filming of these scenes needed all group members in order to be filmed in
the shots and to manage the equipment.
These scenes on the downs were filmed easily without really having to do any
retakes because the sound quality came through fine although the wind was strong.

2. Katherine Drive
On the first day I was involved by managing the boom mic in the production of the
film making, I also helped by holding the camera steady as Jack filmed because of
the wind blowing it out of focus.
The scenes for Katherine Drive were changed at the last minute from where we
previously intended to film which was on one of the main roads of Dunstable,
however after discussion in the group we decided that the best thing to do would to
film on a less busier road like Katherine drive, because we didn’t want to offend
anyone by not getting permission for them to be in the shots or so that we didn’t
hold up traffic and people for the crossing of the street scenes we needed.
What didn’t go so well?
The only part of this filming that went wrong that I know about is that we forgot to
film a certain film on Katherine Drive, however this can easily be filmed another
time.
What went well?
I believe that as we stayed on time for the shooting of this scene according to the
shooting schedule this went well. I also believe that as we got the majority of the
scenes done this also went well because it means that we didn’t have to waste
more time by refilming the scenes again.
How successful

3. I believe that for this day overall everything went according to plan because we got
all the important shots done that if weren’t filmed could have affected how the
final production would have been presented, I also believe that this was overall
successful because we made sure that none of the public were in danger of their
health and safety or had a problem with the shooting of the scenes.
Filming day 2 Manshead Upper School Wednesday 11th:
Doctors office:
On the second day of filming we made sure that we filmed one of our main scenes
in the production which was the filming of Connors character Neil getting the news
from the Doctor of him having cancer. This is one of the most important scenes of
the production because it sets up the story to the audience on why the character
Neil has to carry out these deeds. The filming of these scenes took roughly about 2
and a half hours to do as we first had to set up the equipment which took about
20mins and also the props needed to be collected from the science prep rooms
which took ten mins, the rest of the time was used for filming. For these scenes in
the production I contributed by managing the boom mic, managing the
camerawork and also acting as a character in some of the scenes. In order to make
sure that the production wasn’t disturbed when filming we filmed after school
hours.
What didn’t go so well?

4. I believe that the filming time didn’t go so well as we found it hard to film some
scenes because it took a large amount of refilming to stay in character and get the
production looking smooth.
What went well?
I believe that as we know no how much time and effort that needs to go into set up
the equipment for filming this will benefit us when filming for other days as we
know how we can speed up time when next setting up the equipment.
How successful
Overall I believe that this production was successful because we had the majority
of the filming done, however I believe that this it wasn’t so successful because it
took a large amount of time to make sure that we got it right that could have been
avoided If we could stay in character faster.
Filming day 3 Connors House Wednesday 18th:
Connors house
The filming of these scenes were at Connors house were the scenes consisted of
the character Neil being confronted by friends and his partner about what he’s been
getting up to the last few days. We spent an hour and a half filming this the limit
amount of time we had was 2 hours. The shooting of the scenes had to be done in a
way to make sure it looks like there’s continuity to the audience. All the scenes
when looking back from the filming were in focus. I was involved in the
production by holding the boom mic and also operating the camera.

5. What didn’t go so well?
I believe that what didn’t go so well was the we may have filmed to much footage
and it would be a time consuming process of in a later stage of having to make sure
that the right pieces of footage is used in when editing the final production of
filming.
What went well?
I believe that this went very well as the continuity was kept throughout filming and
I also believe that this went well because we were able to stay on time within the
shooting schedule guidelines.
How successful
Overall the filming of these scenes were successful as they didn’t take up to much
time to film, everyone had a part to play and was able to carry this out in an easy
like fashion.

6. Thursday 19th November Manshead Upper School
Manshead office
The filming of this scene was again done in Manshead School again in the meeting
room where Connor and Jack filmed these scenes which took them roughly an hour
and a half, as from previous experience of filming in the same place they had faster
methods on how to set up the equipment saving them time.
What didn’t go so well?
From what ive been told by jack and Connor they struggled with trying to make
sure that unwanted picture frames isn’t in any of the shots in order to stick with the
theme and be realistic to the audience they also struggled with trying to keep one
of the shots in focus.
What went well?
The shots needed for this part of the production are now done so there's no need to
go back and film in there again.
How successful
I believe that overall this was very successful as everything that needed to be done had been
and now can easily be edited.
