A set of activities including
• planning and
• decision making,
• organizing,
• leading, and
• Controlling,
• directed at an organization’s resources (human, financial, physical, and
information),
• with the aim of achieving organizational goals in an efficient and effective
manner

• Management is an important element in every organization.
• It is the element that coordinates currents
organizational activities and
• Plans for the future.
• It adapts the organization to its environment
• And shapes the organization to make it more suitable to the
organization

8. Management Definition:-
According to
F.W.Taylor
Management is an art (Skill) of “knowing what you want
to do” and then seeing that it is done in the best and cheapest way.
OR
George R. Terry
Management as a process “consisting of
planning, organizing, actuating and controlling, performed to
determine and accomplish the objective by the use of
people and resources.”

In the definition,
Planning :- means ‘’Plan in advance’’.
Organizing:- means ‘’coordination between human resources and
material resources.’’
Actuating :- means ‘’motivation and giving direction to subordinate.’’
Controlling :- means to ensure about implementation of plan without
deviation .
Therefore, this definition tells that management is an act of achieving
the organization objectives.

10. Basic managerial activities:-
Basic managerial activities include,
• planning and decision making, organizing, leading, and
controlling
• Managers engage in these activities to combine human,
financial, physical, and information resources efficiently and
effectively
• and work toward achievement of the goals of the organization.

11. The Basic Purpose of Management
Is to ensure that an organization’s goals are achieved in an
efficient and effective manner
Efficient:-
we mean,
• Using resources wisely and without unnecessary waste
& produces
• High-quality products at relatively low costs is efficient.
Effective:-
we mean,
• Doing things successfully
