"Does Foreign Direct Investment Negatively Affect Preservation of Culture in the Global South? Case Studies in Thailand and Cambodia."
Do elements of globalization, such as Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), negatively affect the ability of countries in the Global South to preserve their culture? This research aims to answer this question by employing a cross-sectional comparative case study analysis utilizing methods of difference. Thailand and Cambodia are compared as they are in the same region and have a similar culture. The metric of difference between Thailand and Cambodia is their ability to preserve their culture. This ability is operationalized by their respective attitudes towards FDI; Thailand imposes stringent regulations and limitations on FDI while Cambodia does not hesitate to accept most FDI and imposes fewer limitations. The evidence from this study suggests that FDI from globally influential countries with high gross domestic products (GDPs) (e.g. China, U.S.) challenges the ability of countries with lower GDPs (e.g. Cambodia) to protect their culture. Furthermore, the ability, or lack thereof, of the receiving countries to protect their culture is amplified by the existence and implementation of restrictive FDI policies imposed by their governments.
My study abroad in Bali, Indonesia, inspired this research topic as I noticed how globalization is changing the culture of its people. I learned their language and way of life which helped me understand the beauty and importance of cultural preservation. I believe we could all benefit from learning new perspectives as they could help us ideate solutions to contemporary issues and empathize with others.
Vicinity Jobs’ data includes more than three million 2023 OJPs and thousands of skills. Most skills appear in less than 0.02% of job postings, so most postings rely on a small subset of commonly used terms, like teamwork.

This research project uses pointwise mutual information and other methods to extract more information about common skills from the relationships between skills, occupations and regions.

How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).
AI Trends in Creative Operations 2024 by Artwork Flow.pdfmarketingartwork
Creative operations teams expect increased AI use in 2024. Currently, over half of tasks are not AI-enabled, but this is expected to decrease in the coming year. ChatGPT is the most popular AI tool currently. Business leaders are more actively exploring AI benefits than individual contributors. Most respondents do not believe AI will impact workforce size in 2024. However, some inhibitions still exist around AI accuracy and lack of understanding. Creatives primarily want to use AI to save time on mundane tasks and boost productivity.
Organizational culture includes values, norms, systems, symbols, language, assumptions, beliefs, and habits that influence employee behaviors and how people interpret those behaviors. It is important because culture can help or hinder a company's success. Some key aspects of Netflix's culture that help it achieve results include hiring smartly so every position has stars, focusing on attitude over just aptitude, and having a strict policy against peacocks, whiners, and jerks.

Google's Just Not That Into You: Understanding Core Updates & Search IntentLily Ray
1. Core updates from Google periodically change how its algorithms assess and rank websites and pages. This can impact rankings through shifts in user intent, site quality issues being caught up to, world events influencing queries, and overhauls to search like the E-A-T framework.
2. There are many possible user intents beyond just transactional, navigational and informational. Identifying intent shifts is important during core updates. Sites may need to optimize for new intents through different content types and sections.
3. Responding effectively to core updates requires analyzing "before and after" data to understand changes, identifying new intents or page types, and ensuring content matches appropriate intents across video, images, knowledge graphs and more.

Introduction:
PrimeCare O&P Network is a network of 75 independently owned and operated orthotics and prosthetics
facilities in 15 states. Our certified practitioners include many of whom are the third, fourth or fifth generation
in their families to practice O&P and own and manage their facilities.
Our Board of Directors is well represented in the national and regional arenas, with one of our owners/executive
board members being the immediate past president of the American Orthotics and Prosthetics Association. (See
background material for more information on our Board).
We are very interested in negotiating national contracts with managed care organizations that will benefit both
our members and your organization’s insureds. In this document, you will find contact information for more
details on our Network. In addition, please visit our website at www.primecareop.com, to find information on
our scope of services and locations. We are very much looking forward to hearing from you and to beginning a
relationship that will be beneficial to all.
Primary Benefits to Your organization and its Insureds:
1. Cost effectiveness: Our facilities’ turnaround time is expedited due to the fact that they fabricate
orthotic and prosthetic devices on-site, rather than having a central fabrication facility that fabricates for
hundreds of offices in multiple states. Thus, our members are in a position to provide cost savings
through shorter hospital stays.
This quick turnaround provides the benefit of speedier treatment for the original trauma or condition,
which also ameliorates potential for additional expensive treatment due to complications.
2. Continuity of Care: Our practitioners have long-standing relationships with the physicians and other
healthcare providers in their areas. These professionals have come to trust our providers and prefer to
refer to practitioners that they are familiar with and have long standing working relationships with.
These relationships can be critically important to the continuity of care a patient receives.
Further, on many occasions, a long-term patient of one of our independent facilities will undergo a
change in their insurance coverage due to a job change or other event. The relationship that amputees,
in particular, have with their prosthetist is one that is very personal and important to the patient’s overall
well being. It is extremely traumatic to the amputee to have to change providers, and can slow down
recovery time as a result of the stress.

2. In many cases, with regard to our independent practitioners, the entire family of the patient has
relationships of trust with the practitioner and staff, causing further stress on the family at a time when
the patient needs full support for best recovery.
3. Continuing education: All of our providers are available to conduct continuing education and training
for your organization’s case managers and others on staff who would benefit from this type of
education. If there is a topic that your organization staff would like to see specifically covered, we can
tailor these presentations to the desired topic(s).
4. Quality of Care: Our credentialing process is very rigorous and we only allow facilities to participate in
our Network after having successfully passed our credentialing process, and having been cleared for
membership in the Network by our Clinical Directors Committee.
5. Local Nature of Our Practitioners: Our providers live in the cities and neighborhoods where they
practice. They understand the types of cases that are common in their area and the demographics and
special challenges those populations represent. By virtue of their long- term experience in these types of
cases, potentially costly and distressing trial and error can be alleviated. (One example of this type of
case would be farming accidents).
6. Ease In Contracting Process: Our administrative office will collect all of the credentialing materials
and coordinate on behalf of your organization and the membership so that during the process your
organization executives will have one, rather than 75 points of contact for materials and troubleshooting.
Conclusion:
Partnering together, PrimeCare O&P Network and your organization can together aid in restoring mobility and
a return to a productive lifestyle for your insureds who need prosthetic and orthotic care.
We would like to request a contract with your organization with an initial 12 month term to allow your
organization to see the cost benefits that can be gained through both the practical advantages we offer,
such as turnaround times and familiarity with the types of cases seen in our various regions, as well as
the intangibles, such as maintaining existing relationships.
