Primary research involves collecting original data through methods like questionnaires, interviews, experiments and observations. Secondary research summarizes and analyzes existing research rather than collecting new primary data, and is also called desk research. Primary research is often done after reviewing secondary research or analyzing previous primary data to gain insight into the issue being studied.
