Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) Market - Global Outlook (2017-21)ResearchFox
According to the experts in the field of NFV, the whole idea behind the emergence of this technology was to provide simplified telecommunication functions to user, which are otherwise complex and tough to manage. Introduction of NFV is providing the necessary scaling of telecom infrastructure and also allowing the reduction of CAPEX and OPEX costs. Above all, the major driving force behind the growth of the technology is the great flexibility and speed that this solution is expected to provide. The market for Network Functions Virtualizations is slowly catching up and this report provides deep insights on how the market is expected to fare in the next five years. It also presents interpretative and easyto-understand facts on how the current market is segmented based on the geography, the end-user and the type of customers using it.

MVNO issues in Thailand - and how to solve them v2.0YOZZO
This is the update version 2 (May 2018) of MVNO issues in Thailand, which highlights some of the issues in Thailand, regarding #MVNA and #MVNO.
Without some form of regulatory measures and changes as described in this presentation, Thailand’s telecoms market will remain an unlevel playing field, where competition and innovation of mobile services, and thereby the digital economy, may not evolve as it should - or at all.
The government has provided the platform for private industries to participate and form the final stages of Thailand 4.0 – however the current regulation from the NBTC - or lack off, has not been able to follow suit but only concentrated on the existing silos in the market instead of getting all the wheels to spin.

The report provides separate comprehensive analytics for the North America, Japan, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Latin America, and Africa. Annual forecasts are provided for each region for the period of 2006 through 2015. The report profiles 311 companies including many key and niche players worldwide such as America Movil S.A.B. In prepaid markets where the majority of subscribers own more than one SIM card, it is only through nationally-representative surveys that accurate and disaggregated data can be
collected. Nationally-representative demand-side surveys are the only means through which reliable estimates on gender, urban-rural ratios and income groups can be drawn. In 2017,
Research ICT Africa (RIA) conducted the After Access Survey as part of a 20-country Global South survey in Nigeria and six other African countries: Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Rwanda,
South Africa and Tanzania. The Survey in Nigeria demonstrates that a significant portion of Nigerians (71%) do not use the Internet while 36 percent do not have mobile phones.
Among the surveyed countries, Nigeria ranks second in Internet penetration, behind South Africa, though the penetration level in Nigeria is still low at 29 percent, not much more than half that of South Africa.
The main barriers to Internet use in Nigeria are affordability, web literacy and a lack of access devices such as smartphones and computers. The Survey also demonstrates, as it did with voice services, that the mobile phone plays a significant role in enabling access to the Internet at household and individual levels. Among the individuals who reported having used the Internet, 89 percent claimed to use smartphones. Nonetheless, the high prices of both devices and services constraints uptake by non-users as well as the extent of use by users, hence the need to develop policies and regulations that increase the affordability of access to smart devices and services for low-income earners.
2017 information on Thailand’s Telecoms Infrastructure including: Spectrum licenses, AIS/TOT 2100MHz 3G MVNO roaming setup, DTAC/TOT 2600MHz MVNO setup, TRUE/CAT Telecom 850MHz MVNO setup, MVNO license fees, MVNO issues, Spectrum refarming Thailand, SRDs, Licensed and unlicensed spectrum band, IoT standards and licensing

The NBTC also allocated the 380-400MHz spectrum to the Transport Ministry for trunked radio system on the subway system.
The MVNO i-mobile has exited the market
Minor update June 13:

The new role of Governments in deregulated telecom markets. Who is responsible for “Digital Highways”
Comparing the impact of decline in leased line prices in india and indonesia ...ACORN-REDECOM
Telecommunications provide access and backbone services which affect efficiency and growth across a wide range of
industries. The quality and price of such key services shape overall economic performance, as they affect the capacity of
businesses to compete in foreign and domestic markets. Reflecting the rapid pace of innovation in information and
communications technologies (ICT), competitive market forces are becoming increasingly important in the provision of
telecommunication and networking services, definitely moving the sector away from the ‗‗natural monopoly‘‘ market model
(World Bank, 2002). International evidence suggests that market openness in telecommunications services and the quality of
the regulatory regime are drivers of ICT sector development (OECD, 2000). This study attempts to assess the impact of
decline of leased line prices in Indonesia. It tries to capture this impact through qualitative as well as quantitative impacts.
Since the decline in prices occurred recently,1 the period post the decline is not large enough to do a meaningful time series
analysis. However, qualitative assessment is made and the impact is compared with India, where decline in leased line prices
led to substantial benefits to user industries. Of particular significance is the trigger to the price decline in Indonesia. The
process was set in motion by a presentation of research results by LIRNEasia in Jakarta in October 2005 and culminated with
the incumbent operator PT Telkom and others reporting a 69-83 per cent reduction in leased line prices in April 20082.
Annex I provides a chronology of the sequence and section 4 in the paper draws interesting comparisons with a similar
process in India.
