The main goal of this conference is to enhance and spread the role of sustainable architecture in improving the quality of built environment in developing countries by saving energy, using renewable energy, and using efficient sustainable building materials and other aspects that achieve the environmental efficiency. In addition, the conference emphasizes also using energy performance simulation in the design process of sustainable architecture. Using simulation tools facilitates achieving accurate and innovative results for studying energy consumption in buildings for both new and existing buildings as well.

Off-grid electrification for development of small islands represents a number of unique challenges under the broad category of rural electrification. Small, off-grid island communities are particularly vulnerable to diesel price fluctuations and natural disasters, and thus, enhancing resilience through more sustainable and cheaper energy technologies should be a key priority. Financing the transition to these technologies – usually photovoltaic, micro-hydro or sometimes wind – is an essential hurdle to overcome. Once electricity systems are in place it is equally important that they are sustained in the longer term with effective arrangements for operation and maintenance, cost recovery etc. Related to this, is the productive use of the energy provided to increase islander incomes.
The workshop on Bunaken Island, Sulawesi, Indonesia from 3 to 5 November 2015, organised by the Smart Villages Initiative in collaboration with Kopernik, will explore these issues and develop recommendations for policy makers, development agencies and other stakeholders in energy provision to island communities.

Out of Sight, But No Longer Out of Mind

New initiatives like Smart Grid will help monitor utility usage across Navy bases and encourage more efficient energy use. Simple tips are provided to save energy at work, such as unplugging unused devices, reporting energy waste, turning off lights, and considering teleworking or carpooling. Tips to save energy at home include home energy assessments, using ENERGY STAR appliances and light bulbs, properly insulating water heaters, and driving efficiently. Energy security, efficiency, and environmental stewardship are critical to the Navy's mission success.

NEPTUNE Scales of environmental technologies

The project is a collaboration between 6 European organizations and is supported by the European Regional Development Fund. It launched a website to share project information and news. University students visited a building using passive energy strategies. A solar and biomass energy fair was held in Sweden. A study tour in the UK showcased community engagement techniques. A climate street party competition in the Netherlands engaged over 12,000 households in reducing energy consumption.

Teachers, students and scholars have long been able to rely on fair use in making content available for teaching, research and study within the United States. However, such protections don’t exist outside the United States. This session explores the various ways that visual resource professionals have addressed copyright compliance issues when making images available for educational and scholarly purposes outside of the United States. Using various case studies, the session will address the sharing of image resources between and among different institutions, determining when and how images can be made available to the general public, creating image-based research collaborations across national boundaries, and the international aspects of publishing with images.

There is a wealth of architectural heritage worldwide, from historic city centers and cultural landscapes to some of the largest archaeological sites in the world. Conserving such inheritance is a challenging task that requires sustained commitment, interdisciplinary effort, and international cooperation.
IEREK seeks to address the complex challenge of conserving architectural heritage through this conference to increase the awareness of how citizens should value and save our heritage more effectively.
This conference is planned to be held on board; a Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan, Egypt. Overlooking the Nile River, these two cities include a considerable percentage of the world’s monuments, thereby offering a historic context to the conference.
This conference helps university researchers, professionals, and policy makers to get together to discuss the most pressing issues concerning the conservation of archaeological, architectural, and urban landscapes. More specifically, the main goal of the conference is to discuss multi-disciplinary research on complex Cultural Heritage sites, ranging from archaeological ruins to historical architecture and centers.
Scientific research will foster the attempt to improve the know-how in the field. Expected results include a better understanding of the problems facing architectural heritage, the development of policies favoring its conservation, the definition of practical guidelines and the organization of training and awareness activities.

population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different

like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
