William Min introduces the SME and MFI sectors in Myanmar. There are 120,000 unregistered SMEs and 620,000 registered SMEs in Myanmar. Agriculture, industry, and services contribute 37%, 21.3%, and 41.6% respectively to the economy. Main challenges for SME financing include capacity constraints, collateral constraints, and interest rates. The JICA two-step loan program provides funds to SMEs through MEB and banks at interest rates of 4% and 8.5% respectively, up to 5 years and 100 million MMK.
