Livestock
 At factory farms, known in the industry as confined animal feeding
operations (CAFOs), farm animals often travel to their deaths in
confined spaces so tight that they suffer severe health problems.
Although the United States Department of Agriculture provides
farmers with a variety of guides to transport animals securely,
official federal legislation only stipulates that animals can only be
in a specific vehicle for 28 hours. This law does not regulate how
many animals can go into a particular vehicle, which means that
many factory-farmed pigs and cows travel to their deaths packed
in much too tightly .

 A 2006 report showed that at least 1 million pigs each year die
from the inhumane conditions of transport. Some die from
extremes of temperature, while others suffocate or experience
severe internal injuries from being so tightly packed on the trucks.
Similarly, factory farms may load up to 45 head of cattle onto a
single 18-wheel truck, in which they are exposed to the elements
and their own waste.
