10. "This binding resolution will ensure that the Assad regime must keep its commitments, or face
consequences," Obama said at a press conference at the White House. "We’ll have to be vigilant about
following through, but this could be a significant victory for the international community, and demonstrate
how strong diplomacy can allow us to secure our country and pursue a better world," he said.
Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham, who have for months pushed for more aggressive US
involvement in Syria to aid the opposition, immediately released a statement pouring cold water on the
resolution.
"This resolution is another triumph of hope over reality," the senators said in a prepared statement. "It
contains no meaningful or immediate enforcement mechanisms, let alone a threat of the use of force for
the Assad regime’s non-compliance. The whole question of enforcement has been deferred."
But a senior administration official told reporters on Friday that the resolution was an achievement that
went beyond what a military campaign could have accomplished.
"This would, frankly, go beyond achieving the objective that we were contemplating with military action,"
the official said.

first direct US-Iran communication since 1979
A senior administration official told
reporters that the historic call lasted 15
minutes, opening with Obama
congratulating Rouhani on his election and
ending with Obama saying farewell in Farsi.
The call comes just days before Prime Minister
Binyamin Netanyahu is to travel to New York and
Washington to make his case against Iran's nuclear
program, both publicly and privately.
"We'll continue to keep the Israeli government
updated on this diplomatic effort," the official said.
"The Israeli government has every right to be
skeptical of the Iranian government, given... threats
toward Israel's existence."

14. For Israel’s
Neighbors
“No leader, no
government can
block intercession
anywhere in the
world. That is one
thing that can get
into any country. So
we must pray as
Believers that God
would continue to
push the Gospel to
the ends of the
earth.”
Tom Doyle (CBN News Interview)
15. Ticker Tape –
Pray for the news as
it comes across the
airwaves.
Pray for:
*God’s will
* salvation of leaders
*wise decision makers
*both aggressors and
victims in any
situation
16. INDIVIDUALS –
Countries, headlines and
“situations” are all made up
of individual people.
People created in
His image.
People who are
children, parents, siblings,
co-workers;
not a grouping or statistics.
Each person has a name
and an appointed time on
God’s Kingdom calendar;
placed by and known by
God Himself.
17. “City of Peace”
For a child will be
born to us, a son
will be given to us;
And the
government will
rest on His
shoulders; And His
name will be called
Wonderful
Counselor, Mighty
God, Eternal
Father, Prince of
Peace.
ISRAEL
A Song of Ascents, of David.
I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to
the house of the LORD." Our feet are standing
Within your gates, O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that
is built as a city that is compact together; To
which the tribes go up, even the tribes of the
LORD-- An ordinance for Israel-- To give thanks to
the name of the LORD. For there thrones were
set for judgment, the thrones of the house of
David. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May
they prosper who love you. "May peace be
within your walls, And prosperity within your
palaces." For the sake of my brothers and my
friends, I will now say, "May peace be within
you." For the sake of the house of the LORD our
God, I will seek your good.

Borthwick, page 46Fewer than 3 in 10 graduates think it important to know the locations of countries in the news.66% could not find Iraq or Saudi Arabia on a map75% could not point out Iran or Israel88% could not find Afghanistan on a map of AsiaThis is ALARMING considering all that not only has been on the news but all that has occurred even in their (and our) short life time in these countries. The question not only becomes how do we pray for nations we can’t even find on a map (which will be answered at the end of this presentation), but the troubling question is “How are people voting for issues that impact our every day lives if they don’t even know the places issues arise from?”
Just in case any of us couldn’t find it on this map – here it is.Let’s fill in the map and speak of this region for just a moment.
This area is the number one hot spot in the world! No, America, it is NOT all about us all the time.Page 10: 1 red circle = #12nd = #33rd = #44th = #55th = 76th = #87th = #11

Of just the Jewish people alone, here is the make up. Since 1948 when Israel was recognized as a state and started beckoning Jewish people back home, the people are coming from every land.
1 - The majority of the news in the last 24 hours has been about OUR government shut-down and Obama care. Which is important. In fact, it plays into the world news as it does effect the world in a variety of ways.If we cannot work out of issues, then how are other countries going to see us? It also makes us vulnerable for a time when not only are we running short on services (or paying our people) but it also makes us vulnerable to working out of panic or anger and not thinking about our actions. Ok – enough of that.2 - PER CBS News: Secretary of State John Kerry helped spark the first direct U.S.-Palestinian peace talks in three years after he won concessions from both sides: Israel agreed to release 104 Palestinian prisoners, and the Palestinians said they would not seek recognition by the United Nations. The talks, which began in Washington in late July, are intended to last about nine months and resolve several critical issues such as the status of Jerusalem, Israeli settlements in the West Bank, refugees, and Palestinian land claims in Israeli territory. It has been several years since serious progress was made on negotiating peace in the region but in his speech to the United Nations last week Mr. Obama said the peace process would be among his top priorities during the remainder of his presidency.Several events in recent weeks have threatened the progress of the talks, including fatal attacks on two Israeli soldiers earlier this month by Palestinians. In response, Netanyahu said he wanted to strengthen Jewish settlement in Hebron, the largest Palestinian city in the West Bank. Palestinians hope the area will be a part of a future state that also includes the Gaza Strip and east Jerusalem, which were captured by Israel in the 1967 war. About half a million Israelis live in settlements in the West Bank and east Jerusalem, which has received international condemnation, but Netanyahu refused to freeze settlement activity as a precondition for the talks. But both sides have stayed at the table, for the time being. Mr. Obama met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the United Nations last week, where Abbas reaffirmed his commitment to the peace process. He and Netanyahu have not yet met directly, leaving the work to negotiators.Per: Israel Today.comThe Obama Administration, like much of the West, has been largely taken in by new Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s recent charm offensive, and that has Israel worried. While US officials have struck cautious tone, US Secretary of State John Kerry didn’t succeed in hiding his excitement over the prospect of a “quick deal” to resolve the nuclear crisis.“If it is a peaceful program, and we can all see that - the whole world sees that - the relationship with Iran can change dramatically for the better and it can change fast,” Kerry said in an interview with CBS’s “60 Minutes” on Sunday. What has Israel concerned is Iran’s ability to fool the West into believing its nuclear program is peaceful. Or, rather, that the West has so little stomach for a fight that it wants to believe Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful, even if it isn’t so. As Netanyahu has been pointing out, that is precisely how North Korea managed to defy all international sanctions and threats and test its nuclear weapon. Many Israelis feel Netanyahu is wasting his time sucking up to Obama and trying to convince him of a threat that Washington has proved it either can’t or won’t deal with. 3 - MEANWHILE:Israel’s “Shabak”, the local equivalent of the FBI, has arrested an Iranian national with ties to local terrorist organizations. Ali Mansouri, 55, was nabbed at Ben Gurion International Airport after entering the country on a Belgian passport. Israeli intelligence flagged Mansouri as having been successfully recruited by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.Mansouri had already managed to visit Israel a number of times using his Belgian passport, which he obtained thanks to his previous marriage to a Belgian woman.During his time in the Holy Land, Mansouri used business meetings to cover up his true agenda: identifying targets for terrorist attacks. For example, Mansouri was found to have taken numerous photos of the American Embassy in Tel Aviv.According to the Shabak, Iran has offered one million dollars to anyone willing to spy on Israel. Iranian nationals with foreign passports are prime candidates for recruitment.Iran was irritated by the timing of the report, claiming it was nothing but an attempt to make the Islamic Republic look bad at a time when it is trying to cozy up to the West.4 - AND THEN THIS ON MONDAY:The apparent efforts by Iran over the past few days to re-connect with the United States and other U.N. countries took an abrupt turn Monday when one of the country’s top officials lashed out at President Obama.Foreign Minister JavadZarif used Twitter to accuse Obama of imposing “illegal” sanctions on his country -- an argument he has repeatedly made -- and of doing a “flip flop.” That was an apparent reference to the president meeting Monday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Iran’s neighbor and bitter enemy, and suggesting sanctions brought Iran to the table. “Pres. Obama's presumption that Iran is negotiating because of his illegal threats and sanctions is disrespectful of a nation, macho and wrong,” Zarif tweeted.“President Obama needs consistency to promote mutual confidence. Flip flop destroys trust and undermines US credibility,” he wrote in a second tweet.5 - THEN THERE IS SYRIA:What to do? Where to go? Do we get involved? How much are we involved already?6 - Yesterday TURKEY announced that Turkey's parliament will discuss a government motion authorizing military strikes against Syria on Thursday, the deputy prime minister said.
