A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

3. PRE PRODUCTION
• Pre-production is the process of fixing some of the elements involved
in a film, play, or other performance. There are three parts in a
production: pre-production, production, and post-production. Pre-
production ends when the planning ends and the content starts being
produced.
• work done on a product, especially a film or broadcast programme,
before full-scale production begins.
4. BUDGET
A Budget is a list of everything you will
need including the price of everything
that you need during the production so
you know exactly how much is will
cost so you know how much you
need before you can start to make
your product.
5.
6. LOCATION RECCE
• Location Recce In the Location recce sheet you draw a rough sketch of the
filming location site, names of the people that grant access to the location,
and the name of the location contacts, along with a list of possible health
and safety risk worth noting, last but not least a list of potential filming
problems that you could encounter on the shooting date, such as the
weather. Listing these things is useful as if they do happen your already
expecting it and there for it can be avoided or resolved, and also by naming
the people that would grant you access to the location later is helpful if you
cant gain access or if you forgot who the location contact.
7.
8. OVERHEAD DIAGRAMS
In an Overhead diagram, you point
out all the places you and your crew
or where specific people will be
during the production so you and
your crew all know where you should
be, almost like a rough sketch of the
location.
9.
10. CONTENT AGREEMENT
• Location Release & Content Agreement By asking the people in your
production or owners of the location you may be using to sign a
Location release & content agreement (legal clearance) saying they
have acknowledgement and allow that they or there location will be in
the final product, otherwise they could demand that it is removed and
they could potentially take you or your company to court.
11.
12. GHANT CHART
• Ghant Chart a Gantt chart is for
listing all the day that you will and
wont be filming on. Gantt charts are
useful as it helps you organise your
time more efficiently, it also stop
you spending too much time on one
thing as you will be on a schedule.
13.
14. RISK ASSESSMENT
• The Risk assessment is used for noting all of the possible hazards
that could happen during your production at your listed location and
the level of the risk to help you do your best to avoid any of the
possible hazards. Listing all of the possible hazards and how they
could most easily be solved is useful as you can avoid them from
happening and such as Tripping on whirr on the set, stick wires to the
floor with hazard tape.
15.
16. SHOOTING SCRIPT
• Shooting Script The shooting
script is to inform the subjects of
what they should be doing, whats
going on in the scene. It also
helps the cameramen so they
know where to stand, what they
should be shooting and what
angle they should be shooting
17.
18. CREW EQUIPTMENT
• A Equipment & crew sheet is a list of all the equipment that you will or may
need along side with potential actors or crew you will be needing to help film,
edit or act when making the product; also, a list of the transport
requirements, when traveling to and/ or from locations, and the post-
production requirements such as the music that you may need too add on
after editing, graphic, sound effects, voice over narration, and found footage
or images. listing all of this is useful in the long run, as you may need to rent
or book out along with the actors, crew, and transport that you would need to
hire before hand.
19.
20. REQUIREMENTS
• Requirements are so you
remember all the things you need
to bring for the production, this is
essential as there are usually
many pieces of equipment to
remember and you wont be able
to shoot without all of the
equipment.
21. STORY BOARDS
• Storyboards This is a story board, a story board should contain almost
all of the content that will be in your production, it’s basically a step by
step process of what’s happening, in what shot, lighting, sound, fx,
screen action, and camera movement. Story boards are very useful
when you actully start making your production as it’s contains of your
ideas and plans step by step.
22.
23.
24. CONTACT SHEET
• Contact Sheet A call sheet should include contact information such as
phone numbers and/ or email addresses, a shooting schedule, and
the address of the shooting location. Call sheets should be given to
the crew and cast of the production, call sheets are handy just incase
you lose someone from the cast or crew so they are easily contacted.
25. FOOTAGE LOG
The footage log helps you to
understand what shot you should be
trying to capture so you can make
your production the way you had
planned to make it look.
26. EDIT DIVISION
• Edit Division List (EDL) The edit decision list (EDL) is useful so you
can figure out how it can be edited in order to fit your production, by
having and EDL before hand, it make the production a lot easier to
edit, and therefore take less time.
