The Green School Project by ADRC aims to install a solar PV system and LED lights at Saeedhiyaa School in Hithadhoo, Addu City to meet the school's electricity needs through renewable energy and reduce consumption. The project expects to decrease 2,160 tons of CO2 emissions and $12,000 in annual electricity costs. It will train 2 staff to operate and maintain the new systems and conduct awareness activities about climate change and renewable energy for 50 staff and 400 students. The Association for Disabilities Rehabilitation Care will implement the project to support persons with disabilities while reducing the school's environmental impact.

objective of the nation. And to educate people on climate change impacts and
ways to mitigate.
Primary Objective:
• To demonstrate the use of a viable alternative energy source
• To reduce dependency on fossil fuel, and use financial savings obtained from
renewable energy, and energy efficiency projects for the development of other
academic activities.
• To train people with disabilities to operate and maintain solar PV grid connected
systems.
Activities:
• Install solar panels on the rooftop of school, replace existing inefficient light bulbs
with LED lights. Provide technical training, and conduct awareness programmes.
7. Project Goals, Objectives and
Expected Results
Outputs/Specific results
• This project will help to decrease about 2,160 tons of CO2
emission and 1,028 liters of diesel per year. This will
ultimately save USD12,000 per year spent on electricity,
and the savings can be used for other development
programmes for students in the school.
• The project will also train 2 staff for the operation and

appliances used at the school.
• Previous years electricity bill will be collected to analyse electricity usage, and potential savings.
• A roof assessment will be conducted to identify the available roof space for solar PV installation,
• Assess roof strength
• An audit of the existing lights will be conducted, and saving potential will be estimated
• Design roof mounted solar PV grid connected system for procurement
• List out the amount of lights, and items required for solar PV system
9. Project Activities
• Place order and procurement of the solar PV system, and lights
• Replace inefficient lights with LED lights
• Install solar PV system
• Grid connect solar PV system
