2. BIRTHPLACE OF THE LIBERATOR SIMON BOLIVAR
The birthplace of the Liberator Simon
Bolivar, is the starting point required to begin
the tour of the main historical sites of
Venezuela, corresponding to the birthplace
of this famous hero in 1783, who helped to
inspire and concretize in a decisive way the
independence in several countries of the
continent. Currently, the house is equipped
as a museum. On July 25, 2002, the house
was declared a National Monument.
3. NATIONAL PANTEON
Located in the parish of Altagracia, it
corresponds to a sacred mausoleum where
the remains of the main characters of the
history of Venezuela are preserved. In its
back, the year 2013 was inaugurated, a
mausoleum dedicated only to Simon Bolivar,
housing his mortal remains.
The history of this site dates from 1874. The
building was later declared a National
Monument on July 25, 2002.
4. CASTLES AND FORTS ON MARGARITA ISLAND
During the colonial period, several
constructions of a military nature were built
in Isla de Margarita, allowing the defense
of the island against attacks by pirates or
corsairs and communication between the
ports of Juan Griego, Pampatar and
Porlamar, the 3 major cities with the largest
economic life of the time.
