Resources needed to use digital technology are
initially expensive and require constant updates.
Students get “used to” spell and
grammar checks to assist them
with skills

much access to digital media

• Students use abbreviations and slang often in
social media and text messages.
• Educators can use this as a “teachable
moment” and teach proper grammar.

It is our responsibility as educators
to prepare students for college or
the workforce.
Regardless of the cons, we need
to overcome the hurdles and
give students the skills they
need to use digital media
appropriately.
