Editor's Notes

I hope I will grab your attention that intelligence enhancement isn’t something that straight out from the scientific fiction, it’s something neuroscientist, engineers and medical professionals around the globe has worked on for over 60 years. Our application isn’t something groundbreaking in terms of technology either, because such technology has already been used in medical field for treating depression, Parkinson and ADHD with various results. Making it a consumer product has been a long time dream of neuroscientists
Enter genius 1.0. These are the ones the scientifically approved genius, the mega-savant of our time. whose demonstrable abilities have far exceed human expectation in any ways. They can be called the super human of our time. Nichola Tesla, the person who invented alternative current that everybody uses today, is famously known by his photographic memory, and his abilities to assemble machine from scratch without any schematics or drawings. Kim Peek, the real rain man of our time. The person doesn’t have any career other than a payroll manager. However He can remember every book he has ever read, being able to do payroll calculations without the need of calculator or computer. You might be thinking, with these abilities, they sure have changed human lives and we sure need to remember them more than we currently do. And you would be wrong. In Tesla’s case, his technology has allegedly been surpressed by Thomas Edisson, and his alledgely invention of wireless electricity was thaught as merely a crazy talk from a crazy scientist until MIT has proved its credibility in 2014. Kim, on another hand, has skills that can’t fit in the normal corporate world as his abilities can be easily categorized and produced by computer, which would leave savant, such as him,, unemployed for the rest of his life. This isn’t really that uncommon. Davinci, the most influencial painter of our time, is possibly one of the best inventor who has never reached its peak In both cases, their abilities were never actualized to the point of full potential because the industrial world simply don’t know how to utilize them, and they, as smart and unusual as they are, lack of the basic social skills to succeed in the real world. Ideally this is a trageic fact, and it’s the reason why, even in the age of genetic engineer, we don’t want to ourselves to be born as a genius, as the world would destined to misunderstand us, which either inevitably make us a test subject for scientific use, or treated as a mad scientist.
These are the geniuses you hope to be but you will never become. Their visions far exceeds our time, and their talent were never fully utilized. The funny thing is that, this is the reason why I believe a intelligence enhancer is essential in today’s world. Neverbefore we have the opportunities to communicate intelligently/or not with another human being on the opposite of the planet within seconds, we, however, still focus the majority our time on stupid discussion on social media site, and the most famous youtube videos are still dictated by entertainment by talentless celebrities, These are the reasons why great works from Tesla and Davinci has never been finished, they simply couldn’t find the geniuses who can work at their level and finish the product with them. You see, if these inventions were finished, our world will experience at least a 50 to 200 years advancement if we had the genius to work alongside with Davinci. In fact, one of the reasosn why Edison has as many inventions as he has is with the help of Tesla, this proves that having ultra smart individuals to work with will greatly advance the production of those geniuses. All in all, these geniuses are not harmful to society, they are underutilizied ,and they are misunderstood simply because we don’t have the intelligence to keep up with them.
Probably due to the depressing fact that Genius 1.0 has never been as popular and world shattering as they should be, we start to have Genius 2.0 who are as such. Genius 2.0 refer to the people who have gained massive achievement in their life. At a significantly fast rate. Granted, Tesla also fill the bill of being an increadibly successful and respected entrepreneur of his time, but his Not because of their single demonstrated ability, but the collective abilities they acquired since their childhood. Bill , the best programmer of the whole world played the only computer in Lakeside school when he was 13 , Steve, the fascinated school dropout who would rather focus on art design rather than engineering abilities. Mark, the former youngest billionaire alive played one of the earliest computer since he was 9. We have a lot of these people in today’s generation, Elon Musk, the guy who revolutionized the finance industry with Paypal, played with his first computer at the age of 10.. Palmer Luckey, the founder of VR, attended community college courses on electrical engineering at the age of 13. These people, contrary to mainstream beliefs, are genius because they have started at a fairly young age. And when the majority has stuck in their college basement trying to figure out how to compute derivatives, they have already become the expert of their field. I call these people the “manufacturable” geniuses. Their path can be imitated if not copies. In fact, while I was in the humanistic intelligence lab, My professor, the father of wearable computing, Steve Mann emphasize that we need to invite geniuses or future superstars to our lab based on their past experience. In his own words, “if we can invite geniuses who has a great track record, that every single genius has a passion of what they want to do at a very early age.” In the end, the students end up in our labs are usually the 2.0. The self taught ones who are obsessive of success and creation, and they extremely motivated to succeed Ideally, genius 2.0 are the successful people you inspired to be at an early age, or at least the super star employees that word in Google and NASA that would make you a proud member of your family, those prodigies that you certainly heard a lot and wish to be. Sure, you might want to start training your kids with quantum mechanics Like Zuckberg did right now, but before that you need to understand a few traits that separate geniuses 2.0 from the norm.
These geniuses are obsseve, in the best case senerio, their obsession is towards changing the world for the better. This applies to the likes of Steve and Bill. At the worst, the obsession would be with personal gain. Unlike genius 1.0, the obsession is the fuel towards those geniuses’ success, in which it takes years for them to develop, and because of that, they are unlikely to stop it even if they tried. This also makes them apathetic in nature. Bill and Steve has well documented outburst to their employees due to minor mistakes they made, and they usually force a tremendous work ethics to their employees due to their personal desire of success. These geniuses cause societal problems and breaching ethical issues. Perfect examples would be Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerburg, who breaches privacy of the customers, causing leaking of information. They also alledgdly work with CIA on selling customer profile information which cause the breach and lawsuits in recent years.
However that’s not always the case. People such as Solomon has crewed the global economy during the APEC recession in 1997, screwing Tailand and Hongkong as the result of his ruthless assault. Could you imagine how many families lost their jobs due to the financial attack?
Metamorphism of human being Unlike insects, human being possess metamorphism are more to the mind rather than physical body transformation. Similar to a butterfly, the mind starts as a caterpillar, vulnerable, flexible and adaptable to the surrounding environment. At the early age of mind, It tries hard to morph as new knowledge from the envitronment comes in. and it hardly stays the same as it grows. It absorbs every single information without bias, restriction and refusal. This parallels how the mind works when the person has the age between 5 and 14. Since itès really vulnarble, any traumas caused at this stage is almost inrevertable as the tradional medical stuf will tell you. This softness in neurology, can be called neuroplasticity. The flexibility to adapt to new knowledge, information that come from the five senses. However as the caterpillar grows, it hardens. This process is to keep itself to be polluted or attacked by its pray. This mirrors the age between 14 and early 20, in which the host tries really hard to refuse any outside information at the surface, but inside the shell, the information has transformed, nurtured, and beliefs start to be formed. Once this long and tedious process finishes, the old self will be gone, and a new self, with the fully grown wings and colorful body breaks out. This is when the mind fully obsorbs the information, wisdoms are formed and intelligence is solidified. This is when the thought can fly without boundaries and of course, we believe the brain stops growing, or is it. You see, in decades, scientists believed that its impossible to change the adult’s brain as it’s fully grown and finished. However, a 2005 study shows that the metamorphism inside the brain change as much as several months as the person tries to learn new thigns. Therefore, we have reasons to believe that, anybody, can invent themselves, change themselves and become a better person within months if we can trigger that morphism. Sicne we don’t want to create stupid people in the process, we need to first examine the stages of geniuses.
