Çiğdem Kaya is a PhD researcher at Istanbul Technical University and Sheffield Hallam University studying women's labor. Her work focuses on developing design interventions to help female artisans in Mardin, Turkey professionally and personally by enabling them to make more creative products and break into markets beyond the local area. The interventions aim to better utilize the skills of women practicing traditional handicrafts in the historical city of Mardin.
