1) Adoption refers to being made a son of God through receiving the Holy Spirit. 2) Only those indwelt by the Holy Spirit truly belong to Christ and are his sons. 3) It is the Holy Spirit dwelling in our hearts that enables us to cry "Abba, Father" and confirms our sonship. 4) Without the Holy Spirit, one cannot be considered a son of God or experience intimacy with him.

3. DO YOU BELONG TO CHRIST?

4. DOES HE "KNOW" YOU?

➤ To "know" is to acknowledge or approve. In the sense of Matthew 1:25 "he
knew her not" refers to sexual intimacy. In many passages sexual intimacy
was insenuated by "he went into her" (Gen. 29:23, Ruth 4:13)
➤ When we are filled with The Holy Spirit He comes into us. Not in a sexual
manner but typifying intimacy. cf (John 14:17)
➤ Thus HIM not "knowing" the 5 foolish virgins in Matthew 25 refers to them
not having any "oil" which symbolizes HIS Spirit. Without the Indwelling Holy
Spirit there is no ownership or intimacy which means there is no sonship.

between sons of God and all others.

cry, Abba, Father.
➤ We cry Abba meaning Father only by the Spirit of Adoption.
This makes us children of God.

➤ The heart of man must be transformed by the Holy Spirit.
➤ This process starts with the Word of God being sown into the heart of man. cf-(Matthew 13)
➤ The heart of man is circumcised by the Word of God.
