1. Introduction
 The Mobile technologies Importance for business
 Proliferation of Mobile Phone in south Africa
 Mobile Payments: Method to transfer Money instead of
using cash
 Near Field Communication(NFC):developed by Nokia,
Philips and Sony 2002 and adopt as Standard by ISO
(December 2002).
 Near Field Communication Payment: works by nearing
and correlation two points of data for transaction, the
Radio Frequency identification as well as secure
encrypted password
2. Problem Statement
 How SMME’S and Mobile users are ready to adopt
the usage of Mobile payments for purchase of
physical good utilizing NFC technology.
3. Research Objectives
 To understand the value-added benefits of NFC
technology in business: Security, Safety and quicker to
use.
4. Research Question
 What will the impact be for SMME’s within the
Western Cape when they would adapt to using
Mobile phone payments via NFC technology?
5. Research Methodology
 Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods.
 Quantitative Data due to attained through
analysis executed on questionnaires results.
 Literature was collected and studies to
accumulate Qualitative Data.
 Independent var. NFC and Dependents var.

 None respondents to the online survey
 Hand distributed 20 respondents, is below the
desired number of 50.
 10 respondents disqualified from the study
 SMMES owners and manager don’t have
necessary innovative knowledge
 Lack of entrepreneurship skills and vision,
closed customer driven, unable to increase
numbers and users are away but not making
use of it.
7. Limitations of Study
 Time constraint was the major factor in this
research paper. The study limited to five
SMME’s located in cape town selected as the
researcher couldn’t go to all SMME’s
businesses located in Western Cape Province.
8. Conclusion
 The research study raise a number of
interesting for further research and debate
regarding the topic
9. Recommendations
 Local South African Banks ,Credit card
companies and handset manufacture has
major role to play on this innovation.
