This document is a research paper investigating the adoption of near-field communication (NFC)-enabled mobile payments among small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) located in the Western Cape of South Africa. It includes an introduction on mobile technologies, payments and NFC. The problem statement asks how ready SMMEs and mobile users are to adopt mobile payments using NFC.
