The Atomium is a 103-meter tall iconic structure in Brussels composed of nine steel and aluminum balls connected by metal tubes, representing an iron crystal. It was designed by architect André Waterkeyn for the 1958 World's Fair but became a tourist attraction. After undergoing renewal from 2004-2006, the Atomium emerged as a larger sculpture housing offices and restaurants within its glass balls and has become a famous symbol of Brussels alongside monuments like Manneken Pis and the Grand Palace.
