NATIONAL
HOLIDAYS
INTRODUCTION
 National holidays can develop pride, especially when
celebrated right
 Can be a day to honor important events or people
from our country
 Celebrate with half days or full days off of school or
work
 We cant force hospitals, doctors offices, gas stations,
police stations, fire stations, or supermarkets to be off
because they are necessary for our country to function
 These national holidays will promote nationalism, and
a sense of national cohesion
 Will be celebrated with either a whole day or half day
off of school or work depending on how we will
commemorate it
NEW YEARS (JAN. 1ST)
 Way to celebrate the new year
 Can reflect on what you did the past year, and what
you want to do this year.
 Time to reflect also on our country and what we want
to improve in it this year
 Families can celebrate together
 At least a week from Christmas to New years will be
off from school
 New years day, all stores besides grocery stores, gas
stations, doctors offices, police stations, fire stations,
and hospitals will be closed

 All employees will have a day off work exempting gas
stations, super markets, police stations, fire stations
hospitals, and doctors offices
 Will promote nationalism, because it will cause our
nation to remember the hard work that our employees
do
 A half day of school, Will include:

 Parents can come and talk about their jobs and their
contributions to our countries in the assembly

see all the flags hanging around, and will
remember to honor it

doctors offices, gas stations, police stations,
fire stations, and supermarkets
NATIONAL MONUMENTS
Chess Cawley
 New monuments will draw attention and mean something to the
citizens of Independent Fairfield
 Monuments will symbolize the hard work and determination it
took to form our new country
 Monuments can mean something different to each person, but
our goal is to put sincere pride in our citizens by creating these
new monuments
MONUMENTS
ORIGINS MONUMENT
 Shows our past and what
we have become
 Signifies that we were once part of
Connecticut and Fairfield County
 Called “Origins” because it is our past
and where we started
INDEPENDENT FAIRFIELD MONUMENT
 All towns in monument
are together as Independent
Fairfield instead of Fairfield County
 Helps us honor and recognize
our future as a nation
 Monuments serve as a sign of recognition of our newly formed
country
 Have monuments to remember and honor the significant event of
forming Independent Fairfield
 Many years in the future it is easy to forget our past, the hard
work it took to put Independent Fairfield together, and the sense
of genuine pride in our new country for branching off and leaping
forward to form a country of our own
