Our group directed and filmed our first interview, with some strengths but also room for improvement. Among the strengths were using an extreme close-up of a text message to introduce the documentary topic, positioning the interviewee to the right of center as is conventional, and capturing them in a medium close-up shot. We also varied cutaway footage and had clear audio without background noise. However, weaknesses included framing the camera slightly below eye level, lacking relevant background mise-en-scene, including too much headroom, and using cutaways that were boring and lacked variety due to poor quality and length of shots.

- 1. MOBILE PHONES: THROUGH THE GENERATIONS PRELIMINARY TASK EVALUATION
- 2. STRENGTHS For my group, it was a first time at directing, editing and setting up the framing and mise-en-scene for an interview. Our first strength was that we used an extreme close up of a text message, it was taken as a way to show the audience the name of our documentary. A second strength was that we positioned the interviewee to the right of centre, which is a conventional position for interviews, also that our interviewee never looked directly at the camera. Another strength would be that our interviewee was captured in a medium close up, which is a common form of camera shot used in interviews. A fourth strength was that the light source was also located in front of the interviewee to avoid silhouettes. My group also used a variety of cutaways to show relevance to what the interviewee is talking about. Lastly, our final strength was that the audio of the interview had no background noise.

WEAKNESSES The first of our weaknesses to our interview was that the positioning of the camera and framing was just below eye level, at a low angle; which can be used, but its normally to show power/authority. In addition, there wasn't specific mise-en- scene in the background of our interview, which should've linked to our topic and/or the interviewee.
