The praying mantis is an insect found across North and South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, and Australia that preys on other insects, spiders, small lizards, birds, and even small mammals. They lay egg pods containing 100-400 eggs and the nymphs that hatch try to eat each other. As the mantis grows, it sheds its exoskeleton and can reach the size of a tea cup, preying on living insects, spiders, and small animals through different stages of its life cycle in warm tropical climates.
