Parsvottanasana is an intense side stretch pose that begins from mountain pose. To perform it, feet are stepped wide apart and palms are joined behind the back. The torso is then bent forward and down while turning to one side, with the forehead resting on the thigh or knee. It is held for 30 seconds on each side to open the chest, increase balance, and provide a deep stretch to the legs, hips, side torso, neck, and spine.
