A STUDY ON EMPLOYEE
ABSENTEEISM IN
FOURRTS (INDIA)
LABORATORIES PVT.
LIMITED
 “Employee Absenteeism is defined as the failure of the worker to
report for work when he is 'scheduled to work”.
- AL Garrett
 Absenteeism refers to an employee's habitual absence from work
usually intentional and without any good reason.
 Some of the main reasons for absenteeism include workplace
harassment, family-related issues, illness, and job hunting.
 Absenteeism can result in higher costs for employers.
 To find out various reasons for employee
absenteeism
 To find out whether absenteeism is more due to
social and religious causes than ill health.
 To find out whether shift system has effect on
absenteeism.
 The present study is conducted at Fourrts (India)
Laboratories Pvt Limited only.
 This study is showed to evaluate the existing procedure of
Employee Absenteeism in Fourrts (India).
 An absent employee means idle machines or unoccupied
work space, with the consequent direct loss and an
indirect reduction in the tempo of production.
 The present study on the employee absenteeism is confirmed to
a single study unit. Hence the conclusions derived from the
study may not be applicable to similar firms and to other areas.
 The sample employees selected for the present day Indian
Standard limited to 100 workers, because of constraints in
terms of limited time.
 Time factor was one of the main limitations of the study. In a
short span of 15 days it was difficult to collect all needed
information.
 India is an industrial country. The country is
largely dependable on industries.
 Any industry will profit if the management is
able to reduce absenteeism.
 It is also the very essence of the contract of
employment that the employee must perform
their duties diligently and carefully and must
not absent from work without any cause
during the time he is required to be at work
by the terms of his contract of service.

  • 2.  “Employee Absenteeism is defined as the failure of the worker to report for work when he is 'scheduled to work”. - AL Garrett  Absenteeism refers to an employee's habitual absence from work usually intentional and without any good reason.  Some of the main reasons for absenteeism include workplace harassment, family-related issues, illness, and job hunting.  Absenteeism can result in higher costs for employers.
  • 3.  To find out various reasons for employee absenteeism  To find out whether absenteeism is more due to social and religious causes than ill health.  To find out whether shift system has effect on absenteeism.
  • 4.  The present study is conducted at Fourrts (India) Laboratories Pvt Limited only.  This study is showed to evaluate the existing procedure of Employee Absenteeism in Fourrts (India).  An absent employee means idle machines or unoccupied work space, with the consequent direct loss and an indirect reduction in the tempo of production.
  • 5.  The present study on the employee absenteeism is confirmed to a single study unit. Hence the conclusions derived from the study may not be applicable to similar firms and to other areas.  The sample employees selected for the present day Indian Standard limited to 100 workers, because of constraints in terms of limited time.  Time factor was one of the main limitations of the study. In a short span of 15 days it was difficult to collect all needed information.

The country is largely dependable on industries.  Any industry will profit if the management is able to reduce absenteeism.  It is also the very essence of the contract of employment that the employee must perform their duties diligently and carefully and must not absent from work without any cause during the time he is required to be at work by the terms of his contract of service.
