UNESCO celebrates its 68th anniversary this month as member states decide on its future role. Some key facts about UNESCO include that Irina Bokova was the first female director-general, it was founded in London in 1945 and moved its headquarters to Paris in 1946, and in 2012 voluntary contributions surpassed regular contributions from member states for the first time in many years. UNESCO also maintains partnerships with hundreds of NGOs and foundations, has designated nearly 1,000 world heritage sites around the world, and offers over 20 awards recognizing achievements in its fields.
Albert Einstein was born in Ulm, Germany in 1879 to Jewish parents. He showed early brilliance in physics and mathematics but failed to be admitted to the Zurich Polytechnic initially. However, in 1901 he received his diploma and in 1905 earned his doctorate. That same year, known as his "miracle year", he wrote four groundbreaking papers that changed physics, including his paper on the photoelectric effect which won him the Nobel Prize and his theory of special relativity which introduced the world to E=mc2. Einstein later helped develop the atomic bomb and was offered the presidency of Israel, which he declined. He died in 1955 in Princeton, New Jersey.

Albert Einstein was born in Germany in 1879 and went on to become one of the most influential physicists of the 20th century. In his "miracle year" of 1905, he published four groundbreaking papers, including his special theory of relativity containing his famous equation E=mc2. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921 for his services to theoretical physics. Later in life, Einstein immigrated to the United States and took a position at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey. He died in 1955 at the age of 76.
Albert Einstein was born in 1879 in Germany. He worked at a patent office after graduating from college, which gave him time to study physics and math. Einstein became famous in 1905 for his work on relativity and photoelectric effect. He had kids and dogs and was known for being very clever, inventing things like theories of relativity. Einstein died in 1955 at the age of 76.
This document outlines the rules and rounds of a science quiz competition called JIGYASA-2019. It provides details on 4 rounds of questions covering topics in various sciences. Round 1 involves direct answer questions with points awarded for correct answers. Round 2 is an identification round with clues. Aliens may exist based on several factors:
- UFO sightings and reports of alien encounters at places like Area 51 suggest extraterrestrial visitation.
- The SETI Institute continues searching for signals from intelligent civilizations, having detected an unexplained "WOW signal" in 1977.
- The Drake Equation estimates there may be thousands of communicative alien civilizations in our galaxy based on factors like planet habitability.
- While evidence is inconclusive, the possibility of alien life remains an open scientific question according to many experts.

Tornadoes are violently rotating columns of air that form during severe thunderstorms. They develop when warm, low-pressure air rises rapidly and condenses into a funnel cloud. Tornadoes are classified based on where they form - over land or water. The most powerful tornadoes can have winds over 300 mph and paths of destruction miles long, while smaller "gustnadoes" form from downdrafts. Tornadoes develop within thunderstorms and follow the path of the storm, appearing to "hop" as the vortex is disturbed and reforms along the way. They are rated based on the original Fujita Scale which classified tornado damage and estimated wind speeds.
A tornado is a violently rotating column of air that extends from a thunderstorm to the ground. Most tornadoes have wind speeds under 110 mph and dissipate after traveling a short distance. During storms, warm air rises while cold air sinks, causing the warm air to twist into a funnel-shaped spiral. Wall clouds are large cloud formations that often precede tornado formation. The deadliest tornadoes have caused hundreds of deaths and billions in damage, like the Joplin, Missouri tornado of 2011. Tornado Alley in the central US has the highest frequency of tornadoes. Doppler radar and other technologies help forecasters monitor conditions for potential tornado development.
Tornados are violently destructive columns of air that form over land in the shape of a funnel. They typically have wind speeds between 64-177 km/h and stretch over 75m across. Different types of tornados include supercell tornados, landspouts, firewhirls, gustnados, and waterspouts. Tornadoes form when warm moist air collides with cold dry air, creating a whirling wind that draws air into its center to form a funnel. Weather services issue tornado watches when conditions are right for tornadoes and tornado warnings when a tornado has been sighted on radar or visually. Tornados can cause significant damage and loss of life.
This PowerPoint presentation teaches 3rd to 5th grade students about tornadoes. It defines tornadoes, explains how they form due to differing wind speeds at different altitudes, and describes how they are rated on the Fujita scale based on wind speed and damage. The presentation notes that tornadoes can reach speeds up to 300 mph and have paths up to a mile wide and 50 miles long. It includes fun facts about tornadoes and recommends taking shelter in an interior room without windows if one occurs. Students are instructed to take a 10 question quiz after viewing the presentation to test their understanding.
Volcanoes form as a result of tectonic plate movement and pressure changes below the earth's surface. When magma breaks through the crust, a volcanic eruption occurs, expelling lava, steam, ash and other materials. Mount Vesuvius is a famous volcano near Naples, Italy that formed over 25,000 years ago. Its last eruption in 1944 caused widespread damage, destroying villages and aircraft at a nearby airfield. Volcanic eruptions are powerful natural events that can have significant effects on the surrounding area.

Editor's Notes
Puimsteen is licht gesteente vol kleine gaatjes waar as in zat.
In rioolwater zitten gevaarlijke bacteriën.
